As the title really, what is the best 0g turnout rug you have come across?

Must be as waterproof as they come, good quality to fit a 15.3 / 6'3 ish cob

Ideally looking for something with a detachable neck, if its not a cheapy I needs to be strong and durable so I get my moneys worth. Even more ideal would be with the option to add liners but this isn't a must xx

I used to swear by Weatherbeetas, although I’d always be wary with a 0g fill as they’d never be anything more than showerproof. I had a great Shires 100g which served the purpose in heavier rain.

i have a amigo no fill rug for summer as it takes a shower well and is light, with no neck, however now the rain is more consistent and "driving" for a better word i have put my lad in to his masta no fill its a bit thicker, more water proof and is a combo

I had a Masta 0g but it was torn apart on day one :'( he isn't a rug wrecker and herd turnout had changed so shouldn't trash this.

I have a 50g Ruggles but its rather warm .... is there such thing as a 25g turnout?

In the warmer months I have an Amigo Mio for long periods of wind/rain. I have Shires Tempest for currrent wind and rain, it's still 0g fill but slightly more substantial. I then have a Falpro 40g and a Shires 100g for the colder months, unless I clip my horse more than I think I will

Rambos all the way. Like MP, I've some dating from waaay back and also a couple of new ones for this season. They never let me down.

Very disappointed with the Shires tempest no fill that I bought after recommendations on HHO. I usually buy Rambos, but allowed myself to be sucked into getting a jockey print turnout. 6'9" Rambos are a good generous fit on my IDx mare, but the same size Shires was far too short and nowhere deep enough.

I also buy gallop rugs. I don't ever spent a lot on rugs tbh.... The electric fence stopped working at one point and he managed to get onto the fence behind it (barbed wire) and tore it very slightly at the front. Other than that his gallop rainsheet is great, had it a year and it's nice and waterproof. I've just bought their 100g rug too as it fits him so nice. He's got a big chest and shoulders and some of the other rugs I've bought have just been too tight. The gallops fit him great.

I love Rambo, Shires Highlander and Premier Equine though to be honest i cant say i've tried too many as my mares hard to find a decent fit. Id probably say im least keen on Derby House rugs - from my experience i bought one and it leaked within a week; after reproofing it myself its been alright but was still a bit of a disappointment at the time.

That is very true. I bought Alf a 6"9 this year, and had to replace it with a 7ft - he's never been long enough for a 7ft in anything! That said, I'm pleased with the rug itself - fits really well, keeps the water out, and is tough enough to withstand him hedgediving. Can't say how it would stand up to teeth, because none of the boys are stupid enough to have a pop at him!
And it's a nice colour!

Not true. My amigo and my Shires no fills are waterproof. Even in torrential rain they have never leaked. I have 8 ponies and none of their rugs leak.

The thing with a 0 fill rug is they squish the coat meaning the hair doesn't fluff up to trap air and keep the horse warm itself, in turn meaning the horse actually gets colder. But as the rug doesn't have any filling it's just the actual weight of the rug/having a layer on that can keep the horse warmer. Therefore when that gets wet it's closer to the horse and can feel damp underneath when it's not actually leaking as such. Bit like going out in the rain with a waterproof no fill coat yourself - you feel damp underneath but are very rarely actually wet. If that makes sense.
I had Rhino and Rambo for my old boy and they fitted well and have lasted well. My understanding is denier is to do with the durability of the fabric, not how waterproof it is though?

My no fill turnouts are all Shires: waterproof, long-lasting, and they now have a liner system too. I'd recommend them to anyone.

this is really interesting :)
gap in the market for a 10 -20 g rug :p
when it rains but is still warm I wouldn't want to put my 50g on as to me it feels warm.... I suppose the warmer weather is disappearing so I don't need to worry about a warm wet day for a while. Ideally he would be ok on a warm rainy day but my god does he hate the rain!!

I'm a Bucas fan, I use the select turnout, so a no fill outer with various liners and necks that can be added. 1200d and a great fit on my chunky sec DxTB.
Loathed my PE rug as it was so heavy when wet, even my horse objected to wearing it!!
