How un called for, accidents happen all the time yes your friend got caught up in it all and she has even said she accepts her apology.

thankyou dingle12 for your wise and kind words. I do not use this forum much and only started to after posting this apology. Since then I have realised how informative and interesting the forum can be.
I have never had a problem with said stallion before but even so, I have put strict measures in place so similar incidents cannot happen. I feel I am more than capable/experienced enough to produce and cope with stallions, mine are both home bred stallions out of St. pr mares and will be graded. I do not bred for the sake of breeding and take offence at brandysnaps such critical attitude towards myself, without knowing the facts. The horse I am looking for a rider for is a very experienced event horse (gelding) that is a schoolmaster and would give someone a great (free) oppotunity to ride out and enjoy schooling etc. maybe i need to stop using these forums, there is always someone wanting to stir things up!

Very bad timing, SH_Stud, advertising for a rider, with recent publicity! Leaving that aside.

Wasn't aware you were in to breeding, got 2 entires?

Assume you're paying minimum wage for post advertised on here? (No, i'm not trying to stir things up, i'm just a hard-working, honest person)

Please give more details of work contract, + post code, as i know a young girl in your area who may be interested, but i will obviously want to know far more about you before i recommend you to anyone (as we haven't exactly got off on the best start!)

And, please give details of payment. Thanks.

BS do you really know a girl who would be interested? i doubt it. And she's looking for someone to exericse the horse - it's hardly going to be a paid position. She's not asking for any work to be done on the yard and i dare say whoever rides the horse will do it for their own enjoyment, not for money.

You got it!

Thanks x

gosh this brandysnap has issues. I will stay out of your life please stay out of mine, with your unhelpful, critical comments. Im not a bad person actually! go harass someone else

sh stud if I was you as far as brandysnap was concerned I would hit the user ignore!

Sounds like a fabulous offer, it is lovely riding where you are ( I used to keep my horse in manley ) would have jumped at the chance 7 years ago however for me is 7 years too late.

Do not take comments too personally on h@h it is not always the friendlliest of forums as a some seem to just love winding people up, on the other hand there are some very genuine people here too, with a wealth of experiance you just have to learn to sieve them out

Hi llannerch + other friends,

Please be assured about my geniuneness. I am not trying to wind people up, + don't understand why you think i am, or why i should want to.

The opinions i express are from many years of working with horses, and having seen many young people (including myself) being exploited, + working for nothing. If we were paid, we worked ridiculously long hours.

I'm not aware of this happening in any other profession, but employment law doesn't seem to apply to equine industry.

And i fail to see why we can't comply with the law within the equine industry, ie minimum wage, working hours, etc. If we can't provide employees with a minimum wage, then we don't have a viable (or even legal) business, surely?

Food for thought.

And no, i'm no stirrer, just want to prevent newcomers to the industry from falling into the traps that i did, + want them to get at least minimum wage.

Having said that, i learnt loads as a non-paid working pupil, + have no complaints about that whatsoever, as i received excellent training as payment.

I genuinely hope SH-Stud gets someone suitable + with the necessary commitment. Advertising free riding doesn't always do this.

Again, friends, we've never met, i've obviously said things you don't all agree with, but i can only offer what i've learnt, + wish you all well. BS x

Maybe, SH-Stud, rather than us arguing, when we don't even know each other, may i suggest that you advertise locally? Or are you offering accommodation for employees from further afield?

PS: Just read PMs. Thanks, SH_Stud x Will be in touch. Wishing everyone well, BS x

can i just get point across here guys, I was yard manager for 3 top international event riders over many years, on minimum wage, also not on any wage whilst training! I to understand employment laws and the moral right to look after and pay staff well, my last groom would tell you I paid fantastically well and offered her a free rein whilst running the yard so she felt her expertise were valued and trusted! the post on here is for someone to ride a schoolmaster around delamere forest for their enjoyment, as much as to help me in getting said horse fit. I would have jumped at this chance as a horse mad teenager.... please tell me if im wrong in assuming someone else may enjoy this oppotunity to. BS please stop jumping the gun and always assuming the worst of people.

What's your point??

Hi charlies army,

It's mainly to discuss that the people with the money are the most reluctant to part with it.

This includes paying staff a decent wage (ie minimum wage) for what is often a trained, dedicated, + dangerous duty, involving long + unsocial hours. That's the answer to your question.

I have a gut feel that SH_Stud is a genuine lady, so why not ask round locally? Someone will know someone/know someone, etc, etc.

If it was me, i wouldn't be looking on an internet basis to recruit a member of staff, i'd have already had 3 locals, riding well since they were kids, want to work + lads/lasses we all know + trust.

Good luck, BS x

Hi
I'd love the opportunity as i had to sell my horse earlier this year for financial reasons. However I couldn't promise to be a regular rider as i quite often work away during the week and tend to only find out on the friday where i'll be the following week. If you're OK with an occasional rider though I'd be more than happy to get a free ride, i miss it so much! PM me if you want to.

Brandysnap....she isn't looking for an employee she's looking for someone to ride her horse it's two different things. You obviously have a problem with OP and I do hope she's already got you on ignore, the internet makes it too easy to bully people!

I doubt I'm close enough to SH but it sounds idea for someone like myself who hasn't got the money to buy their own at the moment. You may well find you get someone who's willing to do chores as well. I ride with a friend when I can and because I miss the care side as much as the riding she can't keep me away from poo picking/skipping out etc.
