Hi

Not a new rider, but not entirely sure where this question should go and the replies might help some new riders.

I have been on BHS gold for a number of years, but would rather avoid the £80 fee on renewal now that I’m no longer a junior.

I have had a look at Harry Hall, benefits seem good. Public liability is less but the £ off in the shop and free delivery is tempting me. Only downside is 2 max horses - does anyone know if you have to list the horses/if you can change it? I sometimes ride friendhorses/pick up more part loans in the summer.

Does anyone else have a recommended brand. I’m only looking for public liability and personal injury as I am currently part loaning and have no intention to buy in the next year.

Thanks in advance.

I'm currently with World Horse Welfare and found their insurance more comprehensive than Harry Hall. I have the veterinary cover version though so I can't remember how just the public liability and personal accident compares.

None of them have a great personal accident insurance though. They're more for losing a limb etc than if you're off work for breaking something etc. If you're wanting something more like that then you'd be better to speak to a specialist broker as there are quite a few options.

Thank you :)

Ended up making a spreadsheet comparing a few of them and HH/WHW are pretty much the same.

I've already got some decent insurance which covers personal accident, it just isn't specifically rider's insurance so I am focusing on public liability.

Is it covered by your house insurance?

For £40-80 a year, I’d rather just pay out separately than rely on house insurance which probably has some loopholes in it. I also part loan and a lot of owners like to see evidence of riders insurance.

Hi TH. Did you find out how the 2 horse thing works? I have 2 horses of my own (1 retired) and ride a friends so like you was wondering if the horses have to be named and can be changed?

Thank you for reminding me!! It completely slipped my mind when I realised my insurance wasn’t running out until the end of March.

I’ve emailed them now so will let you know when I hear back :)

I have just done a test sign up and it looks like you do have to name them on the policy (into details of passport number etc). I asked in the email how easily they can be changed but I might have to look elsewhere solely because it’s a lot of hassle for part loans.

It’s a shame because I love Harry hall and the free U.K. delivery + 30% off would’ve been great…
