I'm the kind of person who gets itchy feet rather easily- very much live for the moment mentality. I currently have my two at my own place, one ridden and WHW companion Sh-tland. I love it, it's real luxury and lovely not to have to trail to a yard or deal with the nonsense that comes with most yard but- when at yards previously I often got to ride/back others horses/ponies that were a bit fresh or young and I really miss that.
I miss having to keep my mind alert, having that unpredictability or having to teach and work through things and seeing the results. My ridden boy is a dream, 100% with most things in life and is a very laid back chap lives life in the slow lane(should have been a beach donkey).
So it had gotten me thinking about buying and selling- I'm petite enough to ride around stocky 11hh and above and the thought had passed my mind about buying something to bring on to be lead-rein/first ridden as I thoroughly enjoy the desensitization work and light schooling.
I was doing my usual online browse today and up popped a lovely little coloured gelding 3 years old and 12hh- handled but only used as a companion. Sounds ideal and working it out financially I would break even(all going to plan) I would keep him for 10-12 months have him desensitized backed and ridden away lightly for next summer and sell him on. - once checking when he turned 3 and how mature he was upon viewing!
But am I being ridiculous? I dread to think how OH would take to another animal!!
Pro's and Con's me....?
