Was on holiday / honeymoon in States 2 weeks ago (you just have to love getting married in Vegas with Elvis in attendance - was fab!) and decided that on my return lots of work should be done on baby horse to get her backed sooner rather than later.
Anyway, perhaps sooner than expected, I rode her for the first time yesterday and she didn't turn a hair. She is completely different from my other ned, who was a pain when a youngster in every sense, up until the point her was ridden away and has become a complete rock! She is very bright and easy, and nothing seems to throw her. I just hope she maintains this composure right throughout the entire process. I also hope she continues to work this hard from behind and keep that lovely outline!! (see pics!)
Just for interest, she was 3 in April, is dutch bred (Goshka Festivo x Samber) and is rather large (16.2hh at present) so I won't be doing much other than backing and riding away this year, then start the real work next spring when she has matured a bit more.
