Riding in glasses

I struggle to wear contacts because my eyes dry out. I'm also squeamish. However I also can't see the horse's head clearly when riding without glasses/contacts so for competing and jump schooling I wear contacts but take them out soon after. I wear contacts for dressage too so I can see the letters! I have worn glasses for SJ and dressage and it was fine, though I think rimless ones would be better. I just feel happier and have better all round vision in contact lenses.

I have found putting contact lenses in surprisingly okay - not squeamish at all now!

I used to have glasses and rode in them day-to-day but used contacts for competing, lessons, hunting etc. Then, I pulled my finger out, saved some cash and had them lasered (just over a year ago). Best thing I've ever done - I can honestly say that it's changed my life (I didn't even have a strong prescription, just got used to wearing glasses and being able to see everything so when I took them off, felt a bit uneasy)
It was quite pricey but then longterm, no different to buying glasses/contact, etc

I had to switch to glasses a few years ago as long term contact lense use was causing problems and although I was dreading it, it's been fine. I've had them knocked off my face once when I was on the ground and had to 'fish' around on the floor completely blind before I could go after the horse, and they do progressively slide down my nose during sitting trot tests but otherwise they are fine. They have safety glass in which I was assured by the optician would not cause an accident if they broke.
