After this I rode him for a quick canter across the field ... literally about 5 minutes of being ridden, not even that ... and then I had a thought. Will riding him in the snow put strain on his legs? I walked across a field of snow to get to him and my legs started to ache after a while but I didnt really think about this until I was in the saddle .. I got off as soon as I thought of it as I didnt want to put him at risk. But do you think he would have been okay or did I do the right thing getting off him?

If you did all the time it probably would do some damage - but a quick 5 - 10 minutes every so often im sure wont do anyharm x

Okay thanks guys

when was this??

Does this actually work? Vaguely remember trying it about ten years ago and still getting snow balled up. Prob doing it wrong...

If snow sticks around the danger is slipping rather than balled up snow isn't it?
