Prices just gone up again they last went up in December. I expect the recent rise in due to the increase in minimum wage. I do two rides a week one lesson and one hack so £128 a week now. I don't know how I would have managed without the RS since I lost Homey.

You can get buy 10 in advance and get one free which would bring the price down but as I am looking for a new pony I don't want to buy so many in advance. One girl I was speaking who has private lessons say she has asked if she can buy 10k of lessons in advance to try and hedge further price rises.

Group lesson 45 mins 63
Hack 45 minutes mins 65
Group jump mins 45 80
Private lesson 45 mins 90
Horse riding is not the cheapest pastime in the world.
If you are a loyal member at your RS, maybe you can get a discount for having 2 lessons a week ?

The problem with that is if you do it for one client and another gets wind of it, it can err cause issues. Speaking from experience!

Also price of everything going up, every time I buy feed it's a little more and while our hay has stayed the same price, bales are smaller so effective price rise. My wood pellets were £6.90 and now £9.80, I've gone back to straw.

Wonder what Gillian's charge now, they were always the cheap and cheerful alternative but don't think the prices on their website are up to date.

I can see why prices have gone up but they seem quite painful in relation to other price rises. Minimum wage has gone up nearly 10% in April so that could have a big effect. My feed has gone up a lot and hay about 4.5%. Bedding as I was on wood pellets massively went up but I mitigated most of that by changing bedding. So far my DIY livery hasn’t gone up although I was expecting it to.

I wonder how the prices for lessons compare relative to wages today and in the past. My parents paid for my childhood lessons and I don’t remember what they were.
