A few years ago I had a side saddle clinic which I loved, and am getting increasingly itchy to try it again

I have no idea where to start trying to find an instructor

Side saddle is great fun, talland do lessons, i did mine through the side saddle association and they found me an instructor in essex had lessons on her horses then if i wanted i could use her saddle on one of mine (once backed by her)

We have occasional side saddle clinics at my yard run by 2-3 SSA instructors. You bring your horse and they bring a range of saddles.

I think your best bet is to contact the Side Saddle Association and they should be able to put you in contact with someone. My side saddle instructor usually recommends about 6 lessons on a horse that is use to the saddle and then try it on your horse. I wasn't able to have lessons on a horse that was use to side saddle, but luckily my mare is safe enough and we put the saddle on her and we haven't looked back since. When she is in a listening frame of mind she's brilliant with a side saddle on. After just having the saddle on twice she took part in a side saddle clinic.

A stables called Pittern Hill in Warwickshire also give side saddle lessons. Also have a look on the Ride to the Side website and they might be able to help. Good luck, side saddle is much more secure

My two old horses were broken to sidesaddle in September, it only took them around ten mins to get used to the saddle, we put them on, lunged for ten mins got on and rode

they were fine
