I've just bought my neice a board game for Christmas called 'Jump Off'. You progress around a jumping course by correctly answering questions about horses and horse care. I've just opened the box and had a look at the questions and they are pretty complex, would tax the brain of someone taking a stage 4 I reckon, and my neice is only 7!! So, I'm planning to replace the questions with some that are more appropriate to her age, eg. What do you call a black and white horse?

Please can you suggest some horsey-related questions appropriate for a 7 year old who's been around horses all her life?

Many, many thanks in anticipation!

Where would you find the frog???
What is a Numnah??
Which one is a bedding hay or straw??
What would you call a brown horse with black legs, mane and tail?
What is a baby horse called??
Which side do you lead a horse from??

You could questions about all of the colours of horses, like your example question.

You could use photos of some simple, easy to recognise horse breeds and say what breed is this? Some good, easily identifiable ones would be Shetland, Exmoor, Shire and Highland.

What about:

What is found inside a horse's hoof? Frog
What do you use to pick out a horse's hooves? Hoof Pick
What should you do when riding on the roads and a car slows down for you? Say thank you
Photos of items of the grooming kit, saying 'what is this?'
Name two types of trot you can do on a horse: sitting and rising
What is the fastest pace a horse can go at called? Gallop
What is the slowest pace a horse can go at called? Walk
How do you ask a horse to stop? Pull gently on the reins
Name three types of horse competitions: Show Jumping/Dressage/Cross Country/Polo/Gymkhana/Eventing

There's some to get you started! :p

Paces of a horse? Walk, trot, canter, gallop
What's a horse measured in? Hands
Two types of trot? Sitting trot and rising trot
Safety item you must always wear? Hat
Markings of a horse?

All I can think of for now, brains vacated!!

Look on the pony club website and look at the mini achievement badges and the sort of questions they have to answer for them and the pony club D test and lower. Will give you lots of inspiration :)
