So after much debating over the health and wellbeing of my mums boy we decided last week it was time to let him go. Last summer he became urinary incontinent, vet had to drain his bladder a few times and found a massive bladder stone and concluded that there was probably a lesion in his spine too that had caused it. Then he miraculously recovered over the winter, came off the bute and anti bugs and looked a happy healthy horse again so we left him to it. This summer he went downhill again, we couldn't keep his back legs clean because the urine kept running down them and creating sores etc but he was still happy in himself keeping my little girl and the welshy company.
Last week we decided it wouldn't be fair to let the winter take its toll on him despite him only being 14, already struggling with the weight and mud etc we booked the vet for midday yesterday. My dad stayed with him til the end.
RIP benji you cantankerous old man, baby sitter extraordinare, unrideable monkey but the most affectionate fuss pot and my mums best boy. Run pain free.
