RIP Grace - you had a heart of gold xx

A friend on my yard today lost her treasured 24 year old mare. She was the sweetest little mare with a heart of gold and she had had her for many many years - I can't even begin to imagine how devastated she must be tonight.

Up to two weeks ago Grace was still doing two hour hacks, but sadly fell ill yesterday and the vet thought she was going into heart failure as she has always had a heart murmur. Further scans today revealed advanced lung cancer as well as an increased heart murmur. It proved untreatable and she made the most diffuicult decision to have her put to sleep so she didn't suffer any further pain.

Jane my thoughts are with you, I am so very sorry for your loss.

Gracie you were the sweetest old girl, sleep tight sweetheart you will be sadly missed xxx
