Yesterday, after a frantic few weeks worrying about the state of our halfpass, Raz and I finally made our medium debut.
It wasnt too early a start but we had a fair old drive over to the East coast (just over 2 hours) so I wanted to make sure I was ready to leave slightly ahead of time just in case. We arrived about an hour and a half before my first test so there was plenty of time to have a wander around, find out where everything was (new venue) and watch a few tests before I had to head back to the lorry to tack up.
Raz was rather sparkly in the warmup so did lots of transitions and forwards-back to make sure he was listening, then finished off with a bit of lateral work and a few extensions.
He has a tendency to curl back behind the vertical when hes not sure so the elementary mostly consisted of me trying to push his nose forwards. The second leg yield wasnt as good as it could have been (missed the market) and he broke canter coming out of the second simple change so I was a little disappoint when I came out of the arena.
Scored a fair 64.22 for 1st in section (only one) and 2nd overall.
Had a bit of a break between classes so hopped off for ten minutes before heading back into the warmup. Raz was still on the ball so did a few canter-halt-trot transitions, a few hps and one final walk piri before heading back out.
Generally, Im happy with how the test went. We had a few blips - first SI came off the track and we lost the bend in some of the HPs - but we scored a 7 and a 7.5 for our walk piris (the bane of my life for the last 3 weeks) and there were some really nice moments where Razs nose in where it should be and he looks lovely and uphill.
I was really pleased with 65.3%, 1st bronze (only one, again) and 1st overall.
Next week were attempting M75, which looks rather fun
My trainer is competing herself so shes going to come a little earlier to watch, which could be interesting.

I can see lots of sitting trot in my future - the mediums are absolutely killing me at the moment.
but I guess the only way to get better is to keep practicing.
