Hi all. Just looking for a bit of sympathy really. After everything poor Ron's been through, he's been sound and going brilliantly the last few months - including 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th at dressage with scores between 66 and 68% and I was even thinking about jumping him this winter. So I guess we were destined to have another problem as things were going a little too well.
Saturday morning he was hopping lame right fore - weight-bearing but only just. Vet out, who got a positive response to right fetlock flexion test, but nerve block indicated it's a foot problem. He's very, very lame turning, and starting moving, but gets better the longer he's trotted for. Vet back again tomorrow hopefully to see if any improvement (which I can't see as he's still shifting weight off that leg).
I spent Saturday and Sunday in a pit of utter despair. But, we've been through so much together and I've got to be strong for him again in the hope this new injury is either not major, or fixable. Please can everything think of him and send him healing thoughts! he so doesn't deserve this (despite the fact he was a bit of a d*ck for the vet - I think it's hard to tell if a horse is lame when it's only got one foot on the ground!). The vet described Ron as a "Formula 1" horse
Hehehe. He is that. Ridiculously expensive, little use practically, and has to be constantly taken apart and put back together
(I'm not sure that's quite what the vet meant though!).
