I am looking to rehome a racehorse to do the ROR showing classes. where is the best place to rehome one from or does anyone have any info on any horses in the East midlands area, nottinghamshire newark.

The ones with potential to show are sought after now and you would almost certainly be looking at buying one not rehoming as you put it. Try contacting all your local trainers, they might be able to help. There is also the sales at Doncaster but you need to know what you are doing to buy from the sales or just try the usual, Facebook and other internet sites, sourceanexracehorse being one.

maybe ill look for a facebook group or something

There's Racehorses Where are They Now? page on Facebook which is good. I'm not too far from you (about hour) and can pm you details of who I bought mine from, I bought direct from trainer last year. The ROR website has contacts and links on there too.

You can definitely still get an ROR for showing from rehoming charities! I got my boy from Fred & Rowena Cook - Rehoming Racehorses they get some absolutely wonderful ex racehorses in and would 100% have one suitable! They are also ROR approved :).

I found my lovely boy on the ROR site seven months ago. A showing expert on the forum told me he will be show quality once he has been fully rehabbed. It's not my thing, so I won't be going to, but they are definitely available.

.

I got one direct from a trainer 4 weeks ago. Not your area but I would also try going direct.
She knew what I was wanting to do with a horse and paired me up with (what so far seems to be) a pretty good match. No money changed hands, but I got an introduction via a mutual friend who could vouch for me, not sure if that helped.

Solway Racehorses and Cheval Rehoming have some crackers in at times. They do a bit of assessing before they are advertised for rehoming (sale).

Just google racing stables/race horse trainer and your area then email or phone to ask if they ever have anything available for rehoming.

There used to be a couple of ex-racer forums and that was a good source but they died a death. Most of them advertised on there were by users who worked in racing.

I got a mare from ViciJP and she knows a good horse. She's married now and I can't for the life of me remember her new name. She has a website and often has/knows of horses leaving racing. She is (or was) in Hereford but I drove the 8hrs down from Scotland to view my mare (during the 2007 floods!) and it was completely worth it.

Email the trainers within the distance you are willing to travel to ask if they have anything suitable and to put you on record for if they have anything come up. There probably wont be much until September/October time as that's end of season kick out. In your email give a brief - a few lines!!! About your horse experience so they can get a better idea of what sort of horse you would be suited to.

I deal with the majority of the rehoming from our yard and I do keep a file of the people who I think would be good for future reference if we have nothing at that point. I don't read life stories, I dont have the time. I just want to know that your capable of looking after a tb.

Some yards sell, some loan, some owners want to keep track of their horses, others dont give a damn. But the people who do like to hear about their horses every so often are the stable staff. So if you do pick up an ROR please do pop a post on Racehorses Where Are They Now? On fb as a lot of stable staff look for their old charges on there!

ROR website is a good place to start. Maybe contact your local area person, most ROR people I know are very willing to chat.
If you are feeling brave the sales at Ascot often have bargain slow horses.

/Thoroughbred Rehoming Centre, HEROS, Godolphin rehoming - there are any number of organisations rehoming ex-racers. Depends if you want to do all the work yourself (ie straight from trainer) or have someone do the basics for you.
