Roxie the rescue rottie is still with us, because Rottiewelfare are being rather slow about taking her. she's in the kitchen every night because it's so cold but out in a pen and kennel all day, not ideal i know but i just can't trust her with my little dogs, she growls and snarls at them, and the oldest one is deaf so totally oblivious, and so i have to keep them apart in case she gets bitten (or worse) because she doesn't hear and hence doesn't back off...
Roxie's fine with the bigger dogs, very happily walks out with them, no aggression at all.
Help. Is there a way of stopping her being aggressive towards the tinies? I'm just not prepared to risk them.
Or, can anyone PLEASE find someone who could take her? I don't want to advertise her for free because she's unspayed (in season now actually, but safe here) and i don't want someone taking her as a free breed bitch... argh. argh. argh. getting to wit's end...

Have you tried hardline tacktics with the Welfare org.

I.e you take her today, or she gets put down tactic. It may make them take her more quickly.........

Sounds like she's maybe not had a lot of socialisation with little dogs so doesn't know how to cope with them.

You could try to get her to view them in a positive light, ie when they are about good things happen. When you are not there to supervise then the door between the dogs is shut. Also try something like DAP either a plug in or a collar which will help all the dogs relax.

Or it might backfire completely as they say 'OK then, if that's your decision there's nothing we can do about it' and take her off the list!

i won't do that, Spudlet, don't worry. i know what you both mean though, someone else said that because i said 'she's fine here until you can find someone to take her' they might think that means i'll soften and keep her, and i just really cannot. it breaks my heart to have her shut in a pen all day, plus she's not trustworthy with the horses so just not destined to be my dog... however sweet she is.
thanks everyone.

I would probably advertise her and seriously vet homes and have a spay contract signed.
but how could i enforce that? i did think of advertising her and saying she's been spayed, so that would-be breeders don't even ring, and then tell people who sound keen that actually she needs doing. as she's in season now we can't do it obv... such bad timing.
thanks.

Yes you could do that and then tell people they would have to sign a spay contract and provide you with proof of spay within say 3 months.

Act as a rescue would. Write up an adoption application, get references from people for their vet, trainer ect (because she shouldn't be going to a first time owner)

I really don't think it will kill her to be outside...if not, my friends have two dominant males who do not get on, I stayed with them at the weekend with my own male who is a bit iffy with other dogs, they just have a system in place where everyone gets in for a while, everyone gets out for a while, just at different times, it's not such a big deal and it works.

Or get her spayed before you rehome her.
