RSPCA muddy field case update!

Bexwarren24 If you read Section 9 of the Animal welfare act its very clear about what conditions are suitable. In fact one of the clearest parts of the whole Act...and extreamly welcomed by people working for animal welfare. Doesn't go far enough in my opinion but I'm a hard ar*e. ;)

The sad fact of the matter is now that more and more people are being prosecuted by the RSPCA for things like "unsuitable environment" when there are no clear cut rules as to what a suitable environment is.

Sorry BexWarren, have to disagree with you. The animal act is very clear on what a suitable environment is. And I believe that a prosecution would only be successful for cruelty - not an unsuitable environment. Although animals can be removed, held and signed over if kept in such an unsuitable environment.

Also Bexwarren, Defra have set out codes of practise for the keeping of various species of animals inc. horses, cats, dogs, etc. It is these codes of practise that would be referred to with regard to suitabale environment etc. If successful prosecutions have occured against people with healthy animals, it will be because in the eyes of a vet and the codes of practise they were not meeting the animals needs and despite being given a time frame to rectify the situation failed to. (Section 9 offenses are initially given improvement notices.)
