hi, im thinking about getting rubber matting for my stable. How often do you have to take all the matting out for the stable floor to dry or does it absorb it all up? Im not to sure. lol.

If you've fitted them properly and your stable floor has a good slope to allow wee to drain out you should only need to take them up once a year to wash underneath.

Chuck a bucket of water at the back of your stable, if the water drains out, then a yearly clean out should be fine. If the water collects anywhere, then you may need to lift the edge of the mat more frequently to flush out the urine. Making a bigger bed to soak up the wet will help reduce the amount of urine collecting underneath.
Depends if you are buying matting for making the stable floor warm and to help protect joints or if its to reduce bedding costs and mucking out time.

its to help keep the stable floor warm for the winter. what rubber matting would you say would be good?

I had rubber matting throughout my stable for nearly 5 years without pulling them up and I had no problems with that at all. I recently moved my horses and when I took the mats up the floor was surprisingly clean underneath so i think as long as you have a good fit and lay them so that the urine drains out then it would be fine. I know people who lift them up and clean the floor every weekend but personally I think they are far too heavy to be lifting them that often!
