Hoping somebody can help me either find a correctly fitting rug brand or explain how best to alter the ones I already have for my mare.
She was in quite poor condition when I first had her, and since then she's put on a fair bit of weight and has gone up a rug size, so now I've been looking to get her a new wardrobe. I have a couple that are the right size in the length, but none of them seem to fit properly.
Diagram of what's going on with the fit:
The blue line is showing where the rug is pulling tight, basically from the top of her bum to the top chest buckle. In front of the blue line to the wither pad is quite loose and baggy. The wither pad looks to me to be too high on her neck (the red line shows where I think it should be on the diagram).
Front to back though it is the right length for her.
The rugs I had for her before fitted badly in this way too but I thought it was just down to her not being in a very good shape.
The rug that I used to try this out is a Shires Typhoon no fill, so maybe someone could recommend me a rug brand that is cut differently that might fit a bit better? Or how can I alter my rugs to make them fit properly?
She's a cob mare with quite broad shoulders, and with a fairly high wither.
Any help much appreciated
