I have lots if rugs but never seem to have the one I need! So I'm thinking of selling some and buying some to make what I have more useful. If I aim for the following collection can anyone see any glaring omissions?

L/w t/o with detachable neck (got)
M/ w t/o with neck (buy)
Liner rug (got)
Fleece (got)
M/w stable rug with neck. (Buy)

I currently have a h/w t/o with neck but figure I can put the liner rug under the m/w rugs to make h/w rugs.
I also have a h/w stable rug with no neck that I never use as I figure if its cold enough for a h/w then it needs to have a neck.

My only concern is that if I use the liner rug under the t/o and it gets wet I then can't use it overnight. But I do have the fleece if I'm stuck.

That sounds like a sensible collection. I'm personally aiming to have 2 turnouts of each weight as mine is turned out by YO weekday mornings and he has to be ready in his rug. Therefore I just leave him in a turnout over night. The only problem is when they get soaked I don't have a spare of the same weight! I also have a h/w stable rug with no neck that doesn't really get used. Have been looking for a separate neck cover or combo fleece to put underneath but had no look finding anything reasonably priced yet! Ahhhh, the fun of rugs...

I agree, your list sounds sensible, but I also like to have a spare middleweight turnout too, usually an old one. We live in a midgey area, so have sweet itch hoodies for the summer.

Or take those rugs to a rug repair or similar, have 3 d rings sewn on and buy a separate hood. Try something like equestrian clearance to buy separate hoods. I did this for some of my outdoor rugs and it works well! I did buy the hoods first so could check where the D rings needed to go..

Agree that collection sounds sensible, I had a massive clear out last year and that's about what I'm left with. My liner is currently under her LW turnout as it's not cold enough here for a MW, and it doesn't get wet - I think you'll be fine. I also like to be able to take the stable neck off, can bung it in the wash if it gets greasy :)
