Rug sizing for a Section A

My Welsh Section A has never worn a rug - with a coat like hers additional warmth is just not necessary . However she suffers from awful sweet itch so I'm looking for one to help this summer.

Can someone please tell me what size she would wear - I haven't a clue as I'm used to buying 6'6-6'9s for my other beastie

Er measure her? My boy is a 12.1 sec A type, last year aged 2 he was in a 4'9'' and this year he's 5'0''.

How big is she?

It's a bit of a how long is a piece of string question tbh but my 12hh Section A is in a 5'0". I would say most section A's would be between 4'9" and 5'3".

Yes, I know. Just not that good at it and hoping for at least a guide so I can start trawling ebay!!

My 11.2 sec A is reasonably long in the back - he takes a 5' rug.

My 11.3 sec A takes a 4'9".

My medium 11hh sec a takes a 4'9". I find a lot of makes wrong on the shoulder but Shires seem to do the job.

I've had 2 welshies one was 4ft3-4ft6 and current one is 4ft9 best thing to do is measure!

Hi. Had lots of section a's and all have been between 4'6 and 5'0. 4'9 would probably be your best bet if she is not particularly stocky or small! Like old nag says, alot get thr chest size wrong. Masta and rhino have worked well for me! Just bought a derby house and despite having an older rug that fits well, the new one is very poorly cut on the shoulders! Good luck!

My little man is a 11.2 and is 4ft9". Like "old nag" has mentioned I also had problems with rugs with necks fitting. Saxon was the only rug I found that fits him well. You could try Snuggy hoods as at least the sweet itch rugs will be stretchy. Yes they're expensive but they always fit well and are well made!

A tip when buying a small rug, make sure it is a PONY rug and not a horse rug in a pony size. 5'0" rugs are the worse for this, horse ones are just not scaled down enough and tend to be massive around the neck/shoulders!

All my adults are 4'9'' or 5' depending on rug manufacturer. Agree that shoulder fit is hard.

Mines 11.2hh.. and his rugs are 4'9''

One of mine is 11.1hh and takes a 4ft rug. The other is around 12hh and takes a 4'6

Welshies seem to vary enormously - my old Welsh D took a 5'3 and he was about 15hh!

Definitely measure!
