I bought home two fleeces to wash and my (non-horsey) mother put them in the washing machine but she also put biological powder in to clean them. I’m worried that they’ll now irritate my horse’s skin but she’s said not to worry about it. I’m thinking of putting them in for another wash without the powder?

Is your horse particularly sensitive? Mine aren't, I usually use non bio to be on the safe side but wash stuff like competition whites in bio liquid and its fine.

I usually use non-bio, but sometimes forget. It has never been a problem, but if your horse is sensitive you could just re-do the rinse, as suggested.

I am completely undomesticated. I buy washing power/pods by which is on offer and the smell looks nice. Have no idea about biological and unbiological. So I just Chuck in fleeces, saddlecloths and boots with whatever I have at that time and big had any reaction yet.

My very sensitive arab has never had a reaction to anything I wash and I wash a lot of under rugs, as I never put a turnout rug on without something I have washed underneath, and all the fly rugs are washed each week and never had an issue and I use a variety of washing products.

I would be very surprised if there were to be any reaction. I wash saddle cloths / fleeces etc in Persil, just use the non-biological for waterproof ones on the rare occasions that I wash them.

I am also very non-dimesticated and just use whatever is on offer in the supermarket. Never had any issues washing rugs etc and I have a sensitive TB.
