Love rugging questions that is, not rugs. Although some might also love rugs..... I digress...

Big Bay is a TB, and while she is currently looking well, she hasn't got as thick a coat as the other three have. The temperatures are going to be relatively ok here next week, at around 8 or 9, but it is going to rain and be windy. So, question is, should I rug? I have just taken delivery of a nice new rug for her, and if wasn't raining and windy I would leave her naked, but with the wet weather forecast, I don't know what to do. Ideally I need to rug her today if I am going to rug, as it is dry. If I leave it she will be wet for days on end, thus making it more difficult as I don't like to rug a wet horse, although have been known to do so in an emergency before.

So, rug, or not? WWYD?

FWIW I would be rugging her today whilst she is dry, wet and windy is worse than dry and cold, my rather wimpy native has been rugged for a while now, we get REALLY wet and windy up here!

Thank you, that is what I am thinking, but just needed someone to agree :D I'm not used to having horses that are rugged, the others are naked all year round and are like wooly mammoths at the moment. BB is looking well, perfect in fact for this time of year, but don't want her to drop any.

Off to stick a rug on her....... :)
