Rugs - Neck or Not to Neck??

I find no neck tunouts useless in torrential rain as the wet runs down the chest - as I live in windy wet West of Ireland I'm afraid necks are a must in winter months 🙄

Tbh my mare only loses a tiny portion of mane towards the very end of winter luckily.
 
I have Rambos and Amigos, different weights with/without necks fixed and use according to weather. Luckily absolutely no mane rubbing at all.
 
No necks. Big horse is stacked up front, so anything with a neck rubs his mane out about half way up his neck. And A has little enough mane as it is so wouldn't risk a rug with neck cover
