Rural Insurance

Both my horses are insured with them. Got this through the horse and hound comparison site. Very helpful people who went away to find me the best deal for my tb who has a large amount of previous claims.

They are DEFINITELY not linked in any way to E&L (although both are based in Yorkshire i'll give you that!). I can't actually recall who they're underwritten by though as think they have changed insurance companies recently (don't quote me on that though). I worked for Towergate AIUA, both them and RIG (Rural) are based in Harrogate.
Did you get a quote direct with them or via a broker? I thought they just dealt with brokers but maybe things have changed.

Anyway, if the cover and premium suits you then there are no concerns about the company themselves. They deal mainly in farm insurance and the equine is a small part of the company. Like any company though, just make sure you are clear on the claims procedures as they can differ slightly from company to company and this is where people get tripped up (and then blame the insurer) when it's actually because they haven't read things!

It was through H&H online comparison actually :) It's more liability cover, and more personal injury, for £100 a year less- the excess is £350, rather than £135, which I'm happy with. Thanks, what sort of things do I need to ask- I never check these things! :o

When I spoke to rural insurance I think they called them the administrators? Mine are insured with rural insurance but all my paper work says four counties, think it must be the broker...
