My Mum's eldest Cocker, Dubh, made his final trip to the Vet's this morning :(

He was a cracking dog in his prime, worked tirelessly all season, ran (and won) in a few Field Trials and even starred in a film :D He only officially retired from picking up at the start of last season at the grand old age of 12, and even then it was mainly due to a lack of hearing and a tendancy to bury game, given the chance he would have still gone all day long!

However, the last few weeks had seen a change in him and my Mum decided he wasn't happy anymore, so the decision was made.

Sleep tight, Dubhy Dog, have fun with Midge chasing the bunnies.

I've been in exile due to a broken PC. I am so sad to read this, my first post back on HHO in a week.

RIP Dubh. Really sorry.

He looks a very proud and loveable chap. RIP little man and enjoy the bunnie chasing - there's lots of young ones about now.

Thank you everyone, it was quite hard for my Mum to make the decision. Dubh has got her through some very hard times and he was still as able and active as ever, but I think he was in more pain than he let on (he always was a stubborn sod!) and we think there was maybe something going on in his head as he character really changed, he was having almost 'rage' episodes - blanking out and becoming very aggressive. But there was still the lovable old rogue in there, so the temptation was to battle on with him.

Thankfully there are 5 stupid mutts still here, cheering us all up with their daft ways. :)
