Well ummm, yeh. They deserved to be severley punished IMO. I can't stand those sort of people who go around killing lots of innocent people. What else can they do? I'm not saying I am right at all here, obviously you will have a better understanding then me on this subject as you are older but this is MOP .

Yeah, I just watched the vid on You Tube too. Isn't very shocking at all really! But like you Belly says the quality is so bad you cant see that much anyway.

Im glad he's been killed. I believe the death penalty is correct IF the accused 100% did it. If there is any doubt that say, a murderer killed someone then I think jail is the best place where at least they can appeal etc.

Im not quite sure why there is such huge fuss about the fact that he was teased during his final minutes. To be honest, Saddam was a wicked man who deserved everything he got. I don't think he deserved such a quick painless death though! I believe the killer should have done to him what he did to others (but obviously this couldn't pratically happen!).

I haven't watched the video, I have no desire to but I have read about the content which I find quite shocking.
Saddam was not "teased" he was told he was going to hell and taunted with sectarian chants and insults. These people were officials at his execution should not have been allowed to act in this way. This footage will do absolutely nothing to convince people that the new Iraqi government is non-sectarian and gives Saddam's supporters even more cause to hail him as a martyr.

I find that the saddest thing about this was that the Iraqi government seemed more concerned that the video footage was leaked then that it happened in the first place.

I think the problem is that he wasn't seen as a 'real person'. He's someone off the tele - and not a nice friendly someone either.

Just googled to try and find the name of the guy who was filmed being beheaded and came across some very disturbing pictures

- I wanted to make the point that the beheading was probably a lot more disturbing as I imagine it was carried out with far more 'up-close-and-personal' brutality.

Either way, I'm feeling a bit sick and very sad after unintentionally seeing the photos. I haven't seen and never want to see the footage of either death.

What on earth is the big deal in watching Saddams execution?! You dont see much at all! You barely see more than what everyone was shown in the official video. Ive seen far worse (there are websites dedicated to these sorts of videos), things which I never want to see again.

Death is part of life unfortunately. I find it a bit weird that most people see the odd dead body on the news / in the papers / on the net of an innocent person, yet are totally against seeing a video showing Saddam with a rope round his neck.

With regard to why the Iraqi Goverment are more concerned with the video being leaked than they their officials behaved like it in the first place - Its Iraq!! They are different over there! I mean, they still hang people for goodness sake so I don't think some insults yelled at Saddam are really going to bother them that much TBH.

I am perfectly aware of that. The fact is that what should have been an act of justice was turned into one of retaliation and will do absolutely nothing to help the current situation in Iraq and this behaviour should NOT have been allowed.
As for the "big deal" in watching the execution, I personally do not want to watch anybody die, whatever they may have done. Death may be a part of life but that does not mean it should be turned into a spectator sport.

You dont have to watch the death if you dont want to DrWeevil. Obviously it was going to be filmed though, there's no stopping that. The people he effected in Iraq deserve the choice in seeing him die or not.

I have seen the odd post mortem through my work and whilst the first few were an excellent diet excellerator the rest were easier. I am afraid I must have a gory/curious mind as to these sort of things.
The poor beheaded chappy was Kenneth Bigley...now that WAS horrific..because he was innocent!!

Compared to what? Other executions you have seen, or video games you have played or films you have watched? What a sad, flippant attitude to the death of a human being.
