Hello, hope someone on here knows. I'd like to be able to carry a little more than 'nothing' when out riding. Do any of you have any photos of your horses with saddle bags? Also, does anyone know how this saddle bag fits on to the saddle?

Sorry, for asking such a numpty type question, but no one down the yard seemed to know this morning either.

TIA :)

the underneath ones in my pic look similar to the Shires ones - they had a strap which went underneath the saddle flaps. I put it around the flap and back under the girth if that makes sense.

I can def recommend the Shires ones - bought a set a few weeks ago from Ride-away and tried them for the first time today.

I fitted them with the fabric strip under the back of the saddle, bottles facing forwards and put the straps round my back 2 girth straps. Didn't move at all even when galloping. Very roomy too, I got my coat in one side (which has a fleece lining so not that small!) and lunch, phone etc in the other.

You just need to swing your leg higher when getting on and off so you don't clip the bags!

Thanks to both of you :)

Not sure about the swinging the leg even higher!!!!

Good to know they stay still as well, I was wondering if they bounced around much.

They didn't seem to bother Jack at all when cantering and galloping, and he is a complete tit about flapping tack, so they must stay pretty still. They fitted quite snugly behind my leg the way I'd got them fitted.

They got a 10 mile test today anyway and came up trumps! The other girl I was riding with had an absolutely ancient pair of the same design so hopefully they last as well!

Sounds like quite a recommendation, I'm now trying to see if I can get them somewhere where I can avoid the £5 delivery charge - problem is I usually end up buying other stuff to justify the delivery charge. :)
