For a bay horse. I sometimes think brown leather looks richer than black but does black look smarter? Opinions please. Am going in to saddler on Saturday, if I can come away with a saddle the colour won't be too important but if I have to order one, which colour?

on my bay i have black tack-maybe if you see some different colours on then you wil be able to decide which you prefer then:)

brown brown brown, you naughty person. how dare you even consider a black saddle!

i much prefer brown, btw..
oh gawd, is it this saturday? what time? i've got half the family descending on me for lunch... might be able to sneak out if it's earlyish...

Oooh... He's gorgeous! He really would suit either.
Maybe a dark havana if you get to choose.

Mine's a lot darker, but you can see in this pic a dark havana bridle and a black saddle to give you an idea of how the different colours might look. I think the havana looks better on mine.

Got to be there for 11, no idea how she's gonna travel in the trailer, don't know if she's even been in one before, so gonna allow plenty of time. Mmm, I do like brown but because of this hassle selling the other one, wondered also if black is easier to sell on (not that I am planning to sell it just yet)!

Don't worry if you're busy, went there last Saturday and was really naughty and bought a pair of gorgeous Ariat boots, so I'm £170 down already!!! No plans to enter shop this weekend - am definitely staying outside.

Wow - he's a stunner! Really lovely looking horse

I think he could get away with black or brown, he's such a nice colour, although I've always thought black is smarter so I would always go with black, especially as he has black points on him.

oh gawd, that's not great at all. let me see if i can shift family to sunday, otherwise i don't think i can do it, soz.
from what i've heard, he's a brilliant saddler, so i'm sure you'll have no probs.
i think a lot of people prefer black for dressage saddles, but i don't think you should worry about resale value... a good saddle will sell, no matter whether it's black or brown.

Don't change your plans Kerilli, we're gonna be there hours probably. I'm allowing at least 2 - 3 hours, I'm sure you don't want to be there that long, you could always pop along while we're there if you fancy it, at least that way you don't have to hang around waiting for us.

He is a fab saddler, he's half hour away max.

Ok, looks like another brown one then, unless there's one that can go there & then I'm taking it & I don't care if it's red, I need something to ride in as I'm going nuts!!

Going against the grain - black every time though I can't see your pic Nijinski!

seriously, if the saddle fits the horse and you it could be pink for all I care

Are you going to Marks? If you are you couldn't ask him if he can rezip leather boots and PM me? If you remember of course!

No probs Miller, do you want me to take the boots with me on the offchance he can do them & leave them there or do you just want me to ask while I'm there?

Half the people say black - half say brown - true case of "ask a horsey question"!! Quite right though if it fits us both & he has one there to take away I don't care what colour it is.

Thank you all guys.

Nijinski - they are at holbeach cobblers at the mo having new heels but he can't do the zips.

If you could ask Mark it would be brilliant - can nip them over any time as only 15 mins for me.

You'll have to pop over at some point and meet the ugly boy!

Havana every time

Blsck can be cheaper leather as they heavy dyeing process hides it. Also when black fades it looks awful.

Black is the leather of the peasants, black mixed with a nice bit of brass is only suitable for gypsies and chavs.

I prefer black and was told unless you are going to show at county level, black tack would be fine, otherwise it has to be havana. Austrailian Nut etc is very fashionable but I assume also hard to match. (you never get that problem with black!) I'm huge huge of brass fittings, has to be stainless steel

My bay has black tack, but my chestnut has havana........either way it is up to you which you prefer, at the end of the day it is you who is parting with the money.......

I don't know why but that really made me laugh

My loan horse came with black tack and a coloured numnah with his show name written on it... it back up your chav theory
