Hiya,

I am investing in a new saddle, my budget is max £1K - does anyone have any advice / recommendations? I am after a GP / jumping saddle that keeps my leg securely in place.

I have got a saddle fitter coming out later in the month but if anyone has any they can particularly recommend I could ask her if she could bring one of that type for me to try.

The other question is.....should I get one with a changeable gullet?

Thanks!!!

Albion K2 jump saddle. Fits most horses and does keep you secure. Also as it is a "name" means you should be able to sell it on if necessary.

Kent & Masters, theyre lovely english leather saddles, has moveable leg blocks & also a changeable gullet and even better come at around £600/£700 fitted so you could treat yourself to a new good quality bridle, girth, stirrups, stirrup leathers as well :D

Thanks All, I have just text her to ask if she stocks the saddles you have recommended. The K2 was already on my list :D
Joyous70 - Getting one for under £1K would be perfect as I am changing colour from black to brown so DO need new stirrup leathers, girth etc!
Andalusianlover - Thank you for the recommendation - I am in Nottingham, is that a bit far away?

I love my Jeffries hawk event saddle and do everything in it including hunting, and think they retail within your budget.....

Albions are lovely and fit most horses but I don't think you'd be able to get a new on for £1K - maybe just a little bit more? I got a Kent & Master GP (with square cantel) last year, brand new for under £700 as they have a nice wide gullet (doesn't narrows towards the back like some). However, I would say it's more GP than jumping, even though it does have moveable knee blocks. Saying that I have jumped in it fine but I interested to see how well it supports me XC this year. My friend got a Bates for about £800 too as she preferred that to the K&M.

If you can get an Albion then i think they are some of the better saddles at resonable prices. Ooh, one instructor I use though swears by balance saddles so may be worth having try of one of them?

If you could stretch a little.... I have just bought a brand new made to measure Black Country GP for £1050.00 from my local Master Saddler.....

I could choose the leather and I had it made with dressage girth straps, as I don't like the buckles under the saddle flap... All for no extra cost!

there are so many lovely saddles out there, but when the fitter trys them on your horse you will probably limited to only a few that fit. If it helps i have had prestige, stubben,GFS, ideal Peter Jones and a falcon hawk event, they have all been v good. I did have trouble with an air filled bates as it kept moveing, probably because the horse was quite round it was like trying to girth up two balloons top of each other, they are probably great on a thin horse!

Sorry I cant add anything constructive - I am just shocked ....... I have never even paid £1000 for a horse, let alone a saddle!!!! How the other half live!

I have just bought a Jeffries falcon hawk event

It's so Comfy with large knee
Rolls that are so soft !!!

I think it's a little over 1k but I'm sure you will find one for under

Oh and if you ever need to sell they hardly drop value

Another K&M vote, mine was under £700 and it's lovely.

Arrrggghhhh!!! So many options!!!!!

Finger's crossed I will just come across the 'right' one when I try them!!!

Thanks all for your help.
