Id like to invest in a saddle seat saver, not so much for the saddles benefit but for mine

It will be a while before im in the saddle again after breaking my sacrum along with 4 vertibrae but when I do Im guessing a saddle saver will pad the bottom of my spine which im anticipating to cause me problems.

So are they generally all the same or are you best investing in a really good one, was looking at this one on ebay - opinions welcome :)

Look for one which has more than just one strap attaching it to the saddle (some have just one strap that goes through the gullet but they easily twist about, others have straps either side that go under the saddle flaps, these are better).

My friend has bought a secondhand heather moffat (sp?) one off ebay and loves it - it looks very secure and comfortable.

hi, i have a numed one that attaches via saddle flaps and keeps on the saddle well IMO, it is a fake faur type, very comfy and wasn't expensive, i have an older one i have used for 2 yrs now and it is still fine also, good luck!

Thanks for the feedback, I did think there would be ones that sat better than others and I see how the ones which fit the flaps would be better.

Thepony - Yours does look heavenly!!! Will check out the gel ones too they might be the answer to my problems!

Will also have a look at the Heather Moffat ones. Thanks

I am not a fan of cheapy ones. I have got the cottage craft lambswool one. It has a strap that goes under the gullet, and one that go underneath the skirt on either side.
Stays put when hacking, galloping, jumping and is really comfy. And washable. I think it was £29 from mole valley (i was given it by the non horsey inlaws for my bday so i chose it ;-) ) I highly reccomend it.

I second the Heather Moffet one. I damaged my coccyx years ago, and i was able to ride fairly comfortably using it.

Years ago I was asked by one of the Wimbledon Rangers who often suffered from soreness by being in the saddle long hours, to make up a seat saver using a old gel pad.
Worked a treat and no more sore backsides or tender spines.
I see you are in Shetland, Wally is up there (Saddler) perhaps you could ask her to make you one?
Oz :)
