I posted the other day about my cob bucking me off (which we found is because his saddle does not fit).
I had the saddler out who confirmed that the saddle is too wide and is too forward cut for his shoulder - resulting in it digging into his shoulder and causing pressure points either side of his wither.
The past week ive used a friends saddle which is straighter cut and he goes fabulously in it! His trot is more open and hes not bucking and napping.
Had the saddler out who confirmed suspicions. He tried a secondhand VSD (not sure what make) on him which was spot on for his shoulder (however would have needed reflocking). This was to be £650 (but he wouldnt part ex my current one). Therefore ive went with a new one (im a sucker for new ones anyway), and hes offered a good trade in price for my current saddle.
We've went for a Jeffries Falcon VSD (which is not here yet). I'm really frightened that its not going to suite me when im jumping (dont do much though), we do alot of hacking and fast work and some dressage too. He did say that my horse wouldnt be able to get away with a normal GP saddle due to his shoulder confo, although conversely im 6ft 1 with long legs!!
Does anybody ride in a VSD and if so if you jump / hack is it OK?
