Saddlery4U??

I remember a couple of years ago an eBay seller saddlery4u had a terrible reputation and may have even been struck off eBay. This is saddlery4u2. So I guess it depends on whether they are the same folk and if they cleaned up their act.

They are the same company.

Even with the reputation then, you were still probably looking at a 90 something positive feedback rate.

I had no problem with them but then I was happy with what I had bought and didn't raise a query.

I bought an FFS bridle about 5 1/2 years ago, I needed something cheap and cheerful quickly and I bought it expecting to replace it in a year or so. But the quality is quite good for the price, it's still going strong.

I went back a couple of years ago and bought a drop noseband to match.
 
The amount of positive feedback is reassuring but I'm still thinking that they're dodgy, hope they've cleaned their act up! However positive outweighs the negative and the bridle is lush
 
I bought two bridles from them some 8 years ago. Still in great condition. So recently I thought I might try and grab another one.

I must've bid on more than 20 bridles. Everytime, 10seconds before the end of the auction, they were swiped off by someone else. Then, after a day or so, I would receive an email from the seller telling me I could have the bridle for 5£ more than I had bid.

I may be wrong, but it really felt like the seller was bidding on its own stuff in order to raise the amount. So I stopped trying as I though that if I was right, I wasn't going to deal with dishonest people.

Ahh, that does sound quite likely - I'm not going to bother if they're dishonest, I can get a smart one, like a Rhinegold/Heritage from a tack store if they are dishonest but I thought they looked v. smart! :)
 
I don't think it's a question of cleaning up their act but going in with your eyes open and being aware of what you are buying.

These are budget items, even the branded stuff, is the economy range (e.g. Stubben CTD.). If you look at the current negative feedback, there are some queries about the quality.
The way I looked at it was I paid £40 inc P & P for a bridle and for the price is was good quality.

I watched and bid on several until I got one at a cheap price - SCMSL I'm one of those people who bid 10 seconds before the end. Most people I know do this. Some use sniping software to do it for them, so I wouldn't necessarily read anything into it.

OP they are not £200 bridles but are much better quality than Rhinegold or Heritage. Friend had a Heritage that wrinkled after a week and the leather flaked.
 
i bought some leathers off them recently and although they were nice leather i sent them back as they were half an inch out from being the same length and one was all wonky at the end. Waiting to see if i get the full refund for cost and postage. Im still out of pocket as i had to pay to send them back :(
 
Oh cool, I'll check them out as I need a comfort bridle for one of my horses but didn't want to pay loads as he's for sale! Silly to even get him one, I know!
 
I know some people wait until the last minute to bid on something and thus increase their probability of winning the auction. The thing is the seller then always emailed me. And for a seller to do this, he must file a complain for unpaid items on ebay... so if it happened once I wouldn't be suspicious, but it happened to many times.

I was actually very upset, I think their products are of great quality... mine are still looking super after so many years of hard wearing.
 
But it doesn't have to be an unpaid item, they have dozens of the same bridle so when you don't win, they offer you (and possibly all the other people who bid) the same bridle from stock.

I know people do bid up items, a friend got friends to help bid up a saddle she was selling on ebay, but they have so many items for sale it would be a lot of effort to keep with all of them and you would have to use so many identities to keep from being tracked.

It's quite easy to check, you can go an see who won the item and click on their feedback history and see if their purchase history.

I bid at the last minute to keep the price down, it avoids getting into a bidding war with someone if I don't give them time to react. If someone else is doing the same I usually back out instantly.

sorry the post above mine answers that question. i had put a watch on some item with them, but will not try buying from them now.
 
I've bought a few things from there and they came really quickly and are good quality!!

I didn't know they had a bad reputation in the past :o I've never had an issue!!
 
I've never had a problem with them, decent items and quick dispatch. The sweets they always put in the package are a nice touch too.
