Hi

Could anyone give some recommendations for sales livery; I had my horse up for sale for a month now and had lots of calls and request for viewings, all of one of which have then been cancelled. I have spent a long time talking to other people who seem very interested and advise they are going to call back with some dates when they want a viewing but I don't hear anything further from them. The person who has been schooling her for me has being do the viewings so I then feel bad if they have arranged their schedule to accommodate the viewing but it is then cancelled. I am coming to the conclusion it might be more straightforward to put her on sales livery I would like to place her on safes livery with someone who can continue her schooling while she is there and potentially take her out and about a bit. It doesn't have to be immediately local to me but I would like somewhere where I am confident she will be well looked after and where she is the type of horse people are wanting to view. I also want somewhere that will price her realistically so she does sell.

Many thank s

Mine is on Sales Livery. North West area though.

I rang round a few places and just made sure I found someone who sells on commission so they have a vested interest in selling the horse, not just keeping it there charging me massive livery costs to keep it for months on end cos they like riding it, as has happened to someone I know.

Mines been there 5 weeks but he needed a lot of schooling work. He’s being vetted next week so potentially has found a home.

Just be mindful you don’t get your money straight away due to dealers having “returns”.

There's no requirement for a dealer who is selling on an agency basis to accept the return of a horse under the Sale of Goods act. They might want to do this to protect their own reputation, but not all dealers will take the payment because they don't own the horse they are selling. Legally the receipt would also need to be signed by the owner as the horse is not the property of the dealer to sell.

I have done it twice, they schooled and took them out to competitions so there was loads of recent video and a current record.

I didn't pay commission, just the livery, but I trusted the yard totally.

I did the advert and fielded calls myself, they then rang the yard to arrange to view. Both sold quickly after advertising, but both were there schooling for a few weeks first.
