Who has salt licks in the field? Mine all have himalayan licks in the stable, but are currently all living out.
What are the actual benefits? I've generally followed the thought that if they want it they need it (apart from anything with sugar in it ) and some of my horses go through licks very quickly, others don't touch them.
I went to the feed merchant and the only paddock licks they had were compound ones full of molasses and assorted tempting stuff. I would ideally like something that's just salt or maybe with some vits/minerals but definitely no sugar or tasty stuff.
Can anyone recommend a brand/source? I hung a himalayan one in the field last year and it rained and then it was gone
