Fingers crossed for you. I'm not vet, but a fracture doesn't have to end a horse. We had a horse that was kicked in the field and fractured their knee too, at the beginning of this year. There is an initial chance that with the weight bearing on it will widden the fracture and cause the bone to 'implode,' but once they have overcome this period of risk the recovery *can* be *relatively* straighforward. This mare has six month box rest, (relatively short in comparison to some injuries,) and is now back to normal and as good as ever.
Huge, huge (((((( HUGS )))))) For your leg now his - you make a right pair! Fingers crossed that whatever it is its treatable and he's quickly on the mend.
YO's horse suddenly had a swollen leg last weekend, it was massive. I have never seen anything like it. He couldnt walk and would just stand feeling sorry for himself. Turns out he had pulled a muscle right in the top of his leg.
Lets hope its nothing serious and hes soon back to normal. They know how to ruin your plans.
As others have said, even if it is fractured its not necessarily final, a SJer ofour fractured his hock and a chunk of bone broke off - 9 months ( and surgery) later he was back out hacking etc and 12 month later he was jumping BN double clears.
