Agree - should there have been more police around the course - it's unlikely they'd have used the main entrance because they knew they wouldn't get in.

The football club I support have protests against the ownership but it's generally peaceful, chants, scarves etc.

Are ITV handling this well? I'm not entirely sure
Some of the comments about the protesters are a bit much. They are allowed to protest and I do not personally think they are protesting about how the horses are cared for which seems to be what the commentators are focusing on. I agree with one comment one of them just made though about more neglect going on in fields away from the public.

Surprised they're bringing jockeys out that did

Agree, yes they're really well cared for, and yes they can die in the field, but are they statistically more likely to die racing?

Obviously things like gypsy cobs are a huge issue too, but they're not protesting their care.

Agreed. I’m impartial to racing at best, I usually sway to disliking it. But some of the comments on this thread have me eye rolling.

Yes F1 is dangerous but the drivers CHOOSE to take part. This is where ITV aren't overly helping the situation.

Agree racing like F1 has made loads of safety changes, but if F1 drivers were still dying, would the sport be questioned? There's more protection you can offer to a person in a car - look at Grosjeans crash - he wouldn't have walked away from that 10 odd years ago

I don't think the commentators are helping with the case for racing by saying things like "all sports are dangerous". That's not the point, there is definitely the argument that the horses have no choice about taking part but F1 drivers and boxers do and know the risks.
