is it an indoor or outdoor?
and any problems with dust or getting deep, frozen etc.

our outdoor sand school has been frozen solid for a week.wondering if mixing with wood or rubber would help?

I resurfaced our outdoor school at the end of November with 4 1/2 ins of good silica sand plus 2ins of Sitr rubber chip, it rides really well and hasn't frozen at all - I ride just as it gets light at 8am each morning!

The school on our yard is sand and rubber chips (outdoor). It is usually hopeless as I'm pretty sure it is the wrong sand - the surface is far too loose. However, in this freezing weather it is actually quite nice to ride on. It is a really 'dry' cold at the moment in my neck of the woods, so the surface is nicely bound together without being rock hard. All the other schools near me are frozen solid - You can't win!

If it is the right sand, then I'm pretty sure that adding rubber helps when it is frosty. Also check out your drainage - if it rains and then freezes, your surface will freeze unless the water can drain away quickly.
