Just wanted to ask, if anyone would be interested in a 2/3 day camp if it could be arranged say at Greenfields or Strathearn?

I would love to go to an adult camp! say arrive Friday morning, SJ lessons Friday afternoon - party on Friday night! - then dressage and XC on Sat.
Another party Sat night, then home sunday after a hack!

Would anyone be interested in this? Also what would you be prepared to pay to stable onsite, have lessons and also stay in a cottage if it could be arranged.

I would love to get together with fellow HHO's and thought this would be useful too!

What sort of level are you talking about? I don't event as such but go unaffiliated XC up to 2'6 but have only had one XC lesson so definately something I'm keen to do more of :)

I would love to but I am already doing one in Cheshire in March and an EHOA one in February so not sure if I could make it from either a time or money point of view  but keep me posted and you never know :)
Would only be interested in Strathearn though

I'm also doing the Cheshire one but might be interested in a camp at Strathearn - could you let me know if and when it's going ahead? Thanks.

To be honest a trip down to englandshire just wouldnt be possible for me. Too far and to weight up the costs of travel then stay then the camp wouldnt really be possible.

Anything in scotland from Dumfries to Perthsire area is fine for me :)

Nikki :)

I would come (as long as I was fit). Have you seen the active rider ones? http://www.activerider.co.uk/ they look great but they don't do them in Scotland.

Have you thought about Brechin as a venue as they have XC from 2ft to BE Nov, Jump cross, SJs and lots of stables right next the XC course, toilets, showers etc all on site. Or Auchlieshie, I know they hold RC camps there and have XC from 2ft to BE Nov.

Just make sure you get good instructors. If you decide to arrange it let me know and I'll advertise it for you for free on http://www.equestriantrainingevents.co.uk/

me too! :D

I have a tent and I'm partial to a bit of camping, so if it was in the summer I wouldn't mind using that to keep costs down?

i would be interested. I think trickselbel85 was trying to arrange something for around march time up at strathearn, she had started a post a while back, will PM her :)

lol yeah i know what you mean :) we might need to see about finding some one to bunk with, my trailer doesnt have central heating!

I would be really interested. Brechin sounds great as although it would be a bit of a trek for most it is a course I think most people wouldn't consider hiring therefore worth travelling to. I also have a tent but not that keen on camping in March although it would keep costs down......!

For several years I ran XC training pre season with St Gatherer at Brechin. As long as you are 4 weeks clear of the event you are ok to use the XC and still do the event. The event is 23rd April so would have to be before end of March, but since Kirrie is 10th April so I think people would want end of March anyway.

Re accomodation, I think a lot of lorry people would be happy to 'share' their living for a couple of nights. I took Mr and Mrs Figjam on a road trip to Sctosburn and 2 non HHO to Wee Burgie. For the price of a bottle of wine I think most folk would share?

Just routed the plaes mentioned above.

Travelling from central belt Scotland

Hexham 2 hrs 15 mins
Strathearn 1 hr 40 mins

Obviously more or less if more nothern or southern :)

Nikki :)

I would love to! :D If I have a horse to ride that is...! I have no idea if I will or not and no idea at the moment when I'll know...! ;) But I'll keep an ear out as would love to if I can afford it. :)

Brechin would be fab as I've never gone and they've got a nice course with lots of decent fences. Strathearn would be my next favourite option.

I am another trailer "pauper", but happy to pay for lorry b&b with wine/gin/tipple of choice if there's anyone mad enough to offer a bit of floorspace. ;)

If dates were agreeable, may be able to get a "Mr FigJam" photos deal arranged at a special HHO rate if we speak nicely to him...! :D

That would be ace for photographs!!

So that would be alot of interest then!

I have never organised something like this, but would be happy to have a go and accept any advice/suggestions.

Not sure of dates etc and thought of Strathearn/ Grennfields as there isn't many of these things in Scotland and I thought that Strathearn already has a trainer on site so may be easier to organise?

If it was greenfields, I'd love to get St Gatherer but would have to see, I am also thinking that it would be suitable for any level of competition as long as you are a member of BE or a riding club. I wouldn't be running it on behalf of any club I don't think so would probably be best that riders are a member of some club.

All suggestions gratefully received, and Mr Figjam for photos would be amazing!

I was thinking it would be ideal to do it March before the season starts but maybe better after we have been to a couple say late April?

Suggestions gratefully received (as I keep mentioning :) )

ArcticFox- you are brave! ;) But I am sure you will do a great job. St Gatherer has taught as far north as Brechin, so don't discount him completely for there or Strathearn, although he is so busy that he can be quite hard to get a hold of outwith his "regular" training arrangements. If there's anything you want a hand with, just shout. :)

Mr FigJam says if he's free that weekend and there's enough confirmed interest he'll come along and do a HHO-package, so when dates are sorted, I'll check with him and let you know if he's free. :)

Another option is I know Mistatiger has offered that we could do a camp at hers - near Hexham. I know not Scotland but could be more central for some people?

I would be very interested in this, I've never been on camp before -how much would we be looking in the region of?

I have a lorry & would b more than happy to give someone the luton, it scares me especially after a nightcap!! ;) Also have a double blow up bed which fits in the horse bit for anyone else!! Hexham or brechin suits me I'm in between both! :)
