Second Bank hol weekend plans!

Winnie is now off games with some mild swelling which looks like a bang. Vet scanned and we have said 6 weeks and look again. Very minor so will be back doing fun stuff soon enough. Hoping to get Tamba out jumping although I'm teaching at annoying times which will get in the way!
I'm looking for a low key ODE for him in the next few weeks, my aim of BE this year has been derailed by endurance!!

We had a fab lesson.

Focussed on riding straighter after each fence and the quality/balance of the canter, making him sit more and riding a little quieter (distances had been built short - eek! 😳😅).

Popped round a decent height to finish.
Will post the video later. A few screen shots in the meantime:

Then back home to ride the others. Still have the lorry to pack for tomorrow so Will do that while my hires are here.

After last weekend which was a bit of a flop (ended up withdrawing from an Eventer’s Derby as horizontal rain and ground was squelching and horse slipping - I then made the mistake of telling Mr Reacher the price of the wasted entry 😯....! Still at least we lived to fight another day)
Don’t have much planned. Flatwork lesson tomorrow, seeing physio on Monday. Might see if I can talk friend into boxing for a hack in the forestry!
Have a good weekend everyone

whooops!! :eek::eek::eek::oops:

I accidentally told mine about the lost entries for the music champs at sheepgate next week. It's not just that, the big lorry has been taxed, plated and insured ALL YEAR just for this trip, cos I can only drive the little one, what a waste of money

You have two lorries MP 😱😱 Wow...

That's a bummer zaminda 😭😭 hope the six weeks goes quickly x

Reacher😱😱😱 Was your hubby cross?

Lovely pics BM, good luck tomorrow x

We invited the neighbours over to ride with us this morning, so of course F decided to not listen to me and jump off the wrong lead, hope D gets it right tomorrow, or he will be marked down in his WH...

I've the two sets of tack cleaned, and box packed. Just need to plait and clean ponies in the morning....

Also watched European Team SJ which was depressing for Ireland 😭😭

Lol!
I need to sell the little one as I'm still paying off the loan for it. OH bought the big one as a cheap project (ramp had fallen off) but we decided to keep it as more practical in the long run, only I cant drive it til I do the test so yes, in the ridiculous position of owning 2 🙈

Think I'm going to rearrange my lesson today for next week, travelling and riding an unfit 5yo in an outdoor arena for an hour in 28 degrees seems a bit unfair on her when next weekend is looking much more comfortable. It's like the weather gods really haven't been wanting me to have a lesson recently, last time I had a lesson booked it was 48mph winds and I couldn't travel.

Not to be today for me, sadly. Was all prepped for dressage- Horse cleaned, wagon loaded with everything but the horse. Drove the wagon round to the front of the yard and the battery warning light was on and wouldn’t go off.
No visible damage to the drive belt, so assume it’s the alternator itself.
Decided not to risk travelling. Millie couldn’t understand why the wagon had come out and she wasn’t getting on it.

Thoroughly disappointing.

We had a good day at Morris. Early start as I had Fleur in the first and second classes but it was relatively quiet and well organised.

Madame had a pole in each class - first was her (didn’t even try) and second was mine - but we ended up 4th and 7th so not a total disaster.

Blue was double clear in the Newcomers despite me riding to the first fence like a muppet. Tried to keep the canter a little smaller and bouncier but it came back to bite me on the behind as we got a little deep to a couple. Thank god Blue is scopey

New trainer was happy with the round anyways.

Pics of my matchy matchy ponies... will post videos once I get them on YouTube

Lovely morning out for me and Pip . After the last dressage competition getting cancelled , I was desperate to get out so I could get my final sheet for the associated champs.
I did my first test without a caller and survived , actually managed to get round without going wrong , and a lucky 2nd place. Then in the next test, ( with a caller )we fluffed our canter transitions and actually kicked the white boards all over the place in one corner 😂. Even with that we managed a great score , came 4th and now have all my sheets for the champs ! My horse is a saint 😍

Hope everyone is having fun on this rather warm BH

well done Asha and BM, lovely pic of Boggle too but can't believe it's nearly hunting time already, where has the time gone?!
bummer about the lorry scats, what pants timing. But perhaps it wasn't meant to be with your back pain :(

Darcy got quite warm on our little trip round the block on the lorry so I've resolved to do that every day he isn't ridden until he isn't stressing any more.
can't hack him out at the moment as the nailheads have worn off his shoes, he hasn't got any road nails and the lanes are like polished glass with a teflon coating... he minces down the hills cos he's not confident on his feet so that would actually be counterproductive at this stage. So we're doing 2 days in the school and then a day off with a little trip on the box in between while we wait for the next shoeing interval :p

Anyway, made a good leap forward this week and I think we're getting to the point where the racehorse flareups are pretty non eventful ;)

posing in the sunshine today, I think he's going to be a smart little chap and I am just loving his honest brain. He's getting quite cute and cuddly to handle now too, think we have made the change from work horse to pet horse :D

thanks! he's trying soooo hard. I plaited his mane today to (a) make sure he didn't think that plaiting = racing, and (b) find out what it would be like, needs to grow a bit longer I think so I will leave it be for now. it's a fun time with a green horse, compared to Kira making minuscule bits of progress, he is making giant leaps :p

Sorry about you lorry Scats, and your back playing you up 😔

He looks a bit tall to be one of your mounts MP! Also, I may have missed it - did Salty scan in foal?

Eek, exciting :D:cool:

Haha, gigantic - all relative innit. Arty has recently had time off for another growth spurt. Put the stick on her today and she's now comfortably past the 16hh mark...can't call her midget mare anymore

No, we have separate bank accounts, so he just says it’s my money, but he did wince!

Hope WH went well and enjoy the hack in the forest and good luck SJ!

Had a good flatwork lesson today, concentrated on trot, leg yielding, and did some lengthening strides down the long side. At one point he did 2 lengthened strides that illustrious dressage instructor described as “Spectacular “ - before breaking into canter 😂 .

Hope you all have a great time and enjoy your long weekend? I am working all bank holiday weekend so I shall just be hacking of an evening

We've had a busy weekend so far, with more SJ to come tomorrow...

I was busy and stressed on Saturday morning trying to get two grey ponies who live out and have the beginning of winter coats bathed and plaited for WH...

I was first up in the 70cm class, which was spooky enough, but Fionn jumped a lovely clear, and got pulled in 5th out of a big class...

Then we flew off to get F and D ready and into the mini ring for their first class. He jumped a lovely clear for 2nd. Then the spreads and fillers went in for their Cradle stakes qualifier class, but I needn't have worried, they aced it again for another 2nd...

Then to cap it all, they went back in for the mini championship, and got RESERVE CHAMPION 😱😱😱

Today we had a super 2hr hack in the forest, few canters and wee logs, but mostly just chilling out 😂

Then tomorrow we have a local SJ charity show....

Sounds like some really great weekends had by most.

Henry and I went to a local competition and had a really fantastic day. I wanted to use it as a training opportunity to get more exposure and fine tune a few things (and to check that our good dressage score wasn't a fluke!). Our prelim dressage test was quite nice although I felt a bit disorganised in places which meant that we probably lost a few marks here and there. He was a little on the forehand too and I didn't feel like I could half halt to sit him up well enough. However is was good enough for 69% and first place so minor issues really. I am starting to really like dressage! The judge was very complimentary and had some really great comments.

We had 3 round of show jumping, 1 at 60 and 2 at 70. My aim was to smooth things out a bit and make decisions. My coach was there helping another rider so she warmed me up which was really useful! I've not had that oppourtunity before and it helped me own the warm up and get the absolute best out of him. Our first round he was looking hard at all the fillers. There was so many different types and shapes and I really had to ride. We got a long distance to jump 1 but the rest came up well and although he looked at all the jumps he was rideable and went off my leg when I told him to. We won that class too.

Our 70 rounds were a lot more relaxed as he had seen all the fences already and I could really add in some polish. It was useful to go around a couple if times and smooth things out and I think we both learnt a lot from the day. We finished up with Best placed Off the Track Thoroughbred for the whole show! So I am over the moon with how he performed all day and how willing he was. And the dressage wasn't a fluke!

That pony's expression is pure, "Don't worry, I've got this." What a little star!

Unfortunately, Blue still has only one sound leg, so she's spent the weekend the same as she's spent the past week - chilling in her field. (Bilateral hind lameness was picked up by my physio about six weeks ago. Bute trial showed definite improvement, so she was slated to go into hospital for investigation. Unfortunately, she then came hobbling in from the field with heat in her off fore. A week of box rest and cold hosing got it down to 2/10 lameness, but it hasn't got any better in the week since. She's off into hospital on Thursday to try to find out what the hell's going on, and I'm bricking myself and convinced I'm going to end up with a 7yo field ornament.)

I've spent the weekend building vast amounts of IKEA furniture to redo my home office, and today I'll be working because my physical office is in Germany where it (very cruelly) isn't a bank holiday.
