My young mare isn't very good with the farrier. She's not afraid or nasty but will just walk through you/the farrier. We found out that an old owner used to rope her front feet and tie them up to stop her walking away (and would leave her like that for quite long periods of time) and we think she doesn't like the restriction of having her feet held up. Two farrier visits ago she cut the farriers arm quite badly so for safety reasons I had the vet out to sedate her last time. The vet gave her minimal sedation, just enough to relax her and she was brilliant! I'm unable to coordinate vet and farrier this time so farrier has agreed to try her using some oral sedation.
What would people suggest I use, Sedalin or Domosedan? I have never used either before.....is one more 'user friendly' than the other?
Any experience of either would be appreciated.
