Hi All

I have decided to take a permenant job in New York starting 1 December following a 4 month secondment there. Sadly I bought a new comp horse in June last year and need him sold - fast.

The issue is I dont really know him (he arrived the day before I was seconded) and he has missed the whole 2009 season as I've been away so I don't think I can sell him to the best of his abilities.

Can I have your opinions on whether the dealer route is an option? I appreciate I will be taking a hit on him and I am fully prepared to absorb a thumping loss and accordingly I could do without the advertising costs etc as well.

I just feel a bit wibbly about dealers but I am not sure what other options I have at this stage.

Friends at the yard have been riding him and keeping him ticking over but sadly he is def not comp fit or anything like that. I suppose I could suggest that although there is the issue of livery bills to cover as well.

Thanks for your input - all ideas gratefully received tbh.

Why not try advertising him privately, explaining the background and for a sensible price, and see what happens? If you have no luck, you can try a dealer then, but this way you have a better chance of vetting a suitable home.

There are some good dealers out there - who would take him on and sell on comission, and take very good care of them- try mbequestrian.co.uk he has a super rep.
