Little mare has gone up for sale as she just isn't going to be tall enough. It was a very hard decision but she will make a great kids pony and I'm not willing to waste her. I've been very honest in her ad and priced her to reflect the current market but had nothing but time wasting idiots enquire.

One message 'im just wanting her for a pet, light hack for my daughter and me while i bring penny on wen cpuld i look plz?xxx'

One person wanted to buy her totally unseen (to which I said no) then started asking how old/tall she was.

I've said she's not broken in the ad yet keep getting asked if she's a novice ride.

I'm getting seriously fed up!! It was a hard enough decision to advertise and sell her without having to wade through what is obviously 13yos on their school holidays who have decided after 4 riding lessons to start looking at horses for sale or people who think I'm going to sell her buttons so they can make a profit!

Please tell me I'm not the only one who gets this kind of stuff? It's the first time I've sold and I'm about to withdraw her ads!

Probably was....but she is up everywhere that's free lol. I'm not in a rush and she will only go to the right person but it's just making me so fed up. If I knew someone small enough she wouldn't go anywhere!

I didn't need to advertise so I cut out a lot of the potential worst ones, but did have someone enquire about one that made me think, 'Seriously? Are you seriously serious?!'.

Dont worry you are not your own. I've advertised specifying a horse is 4yo green/ no novices need call and the ONLY people who called were beginners. People asking what age/experience the horse was yet it was stated twice in the ad?

Ey up Annette, aww, I'm sorry to hear that, it's hard enough having to let go, but then dealing with rubbish like this. Hope it goes better than it has ben for you. Mickey Gavin comes Wednesday! I'm well excited. Are you still up for coming over soon?x

I've posted this twice now, I'm not a fan of this phone app! I will pm you on Wednesday, I can't wait. Anyways, I genuinely hope your little mare gets the home she needs without the timewasters for you. X

yep, helping friend find a home for her 13'3 pony, original add stated she had started backing process but only been sat on a few times, had mum and daughter show up (girl only about 8) asking if they could ride her, this was after a phone conversation saying she wasn't fully ride-able yet! now is she starting to hack out, but on lead reign, and have some inquiries asking if ready for pony club! think it is that time of year with summer holidays. but fingers crossed friend is looking at someones yard today to loan her.

Try selling a shetland ...

I want one for my daughter as a pet for her birthday - will it live in the garden?

Can it live in the kennel with my dog?

Can I just bring my daughter to pat it a couple of times a week?

Will my grandkids be able to learn to ride on it? (i response to a 5yo unbroken stallion!)

Notice they always refer to the pony as 'it'.

The one that drives me MOST insane is just a response of - price

Just the word, no question mark, no nothing. And NO I will not sell you a pony you can't even be bothered asking about!

You're not alone! When selling one of mine recently we got nothing but "can we loan her first?" - even though advert said NO LOANS in capitals!!! Very frustrating.

No, you aren't alone. I am heartily fed up with people coming to see my very tall, unbacked three year old warmblood - and saying they think he is too immature. As if they haven't seen his videos and a dozen photos before coming to see him.

I'm in the process of trying to loan out kenny and am sick of people contacting me, explaining their riding ability to me, and then arriving and being unable to even get him into trot!

Oh I sympathise but dont give up! Tried selling one of our horses..happy hack, no novices, competing days are behind him, loving persons only, absolutely no loans or trials...what did i get?? oh i want him to hunt, will he be ok for very nervous rider, can i pay half now half later, can i pay instalments, he should be fit living out, can i buy him without seeing him..
the list goes on and drove me mad, esp those who say they'd get back to you either way and never do! Sooo rude!
However I held on and bit my tongue and found a lovely lady who is enjoying him hacking! Just hang in there, someone will come along! :)

Sold huge 14hh gelding as not novice has been known to run away with rider. Had old boy ring up wanting to teach his little grand kids on him. It's scary

I am advertising one on facebook, alot want to loan which as he unbroken seems pretty weird to me. I not really bothered about the money, I have had since a foal and I will never get what I have put in to him, but I do want someone who will put time and effort in to him. A lot I think are just bored and it they got one it would be for sale due to lack of, fill in as appropriate ,time, money or rider as soon as the clocks change.

Today I have had the same person ask me 3 times if I can deliver after being told no, then asking for photos and info?!

Someone else wanting a pony for his daughter to learn to ride on.

Oh and someone asking if she was suitable for a novice to ride!

Surely you must have had " What's least you'll take for it?" That's often the first message you receive, without any discussion on the horse, rider experience or home. I'm sure it must work with some sellers who are desperate and don't give 2 hoots about their horse.

Currently trying to sell my boy - most common theme seems to be 'What's the lowest you'd take? Oh, i've only got £800 to spend and that has to include tack' when he's advertised for £1600 ono naked. I know when I'm window shopping for a horse I look a couple of hundred £ above my budget but half the asking price is blooming cheeky imo. Lots of chancers at the moment looking for a bargain because the market is so awful.

I took my son's outgrown pony off the market as was fed up of these 'numpties'!

He was advertised as forward going, cheeky, and not for a novice/nervous rider, but every enquiry was 'would he be suitable as a first pony, or as a confidence giver'.

It got to the stage I wanted to ask them if they could not read......so frustrating.

We were lucky as sold him through word of mouth, and wished I had never forked out for a proper ad in the first place!

Annette4 that must be SO annoying. I suppose thats what happens when you are contacted by people with no experience whatsoever. Despite what Sidney says above, I wonder if you might be better advertising her on a paying site, where you might get slightly more experienced people looking... just a thought. Hope you find her somewhere lovely.

Agree with Tobiano, you'll get a better response if you advertise on a site you have to pay for, more experienced and knowledgable people will be looking there. You gets wot you pay for!

I fully intend to come payday (car ate my none essential cash this month :( ) but wanted to start getting her advertised. She's in local tack shops etc as well so here's hoping!

I don't think it helps that she's in the price band that attracts those with little money or experience but with her age and (lack of) breeding that's all she is realistically worth.

Annoying and rude... I hate what's your best price... If you have said that stands at least till they have viewed...

Be so tempted to say no idiots enquire, please

I think alot of it is down to where you advertise.

the free ones send to get the numpties that brows and often just dreamers.

You "normally" get better more decent peopl on the paying sites.

Like horsequest and horse and hound etc.

But there are always exceptions!

It's not just you! I'm currently trying to sell a wonderful little 5yo Dartmoor pony, he is an old head on young shoulders and would be a great first, second or last pony! I'm so amazed at how many people have been to view, he has done everything exactly as asked and then they say he's too young or younger than they wanted!! I also had a small older lady come and say she wanted something small and quiet just to hack and then didn't want him because he didn't work in an outline. Keep smiling, I would say it gets easier but it doesn't! :-)

I remember Kal's previous owner telling me that she had someone come and see him and say "oh, he's a bit big" . . . his ad (in H&H mind) said that he was 16.2hh . . . what did she expect????

People really are strange.
