Selling on of prescription meds/best before dates question

What about when owners buy unused prescription meds which their horse already uses as ongoing long term medication? I sold on an in date, unopened ventopulmin to a grateful owner, £20 rather than almost £50 which I had paid for it. The owner's insurance had run out but her horse was on it long term - it would have gone out of date with me as my horse's COPD turned out to be a hay allergy.

It's still not legal.

No but it could mean the difference between someone being able to give their horse relief from whatever they're suffering from or not, or someone being able to afford food for the rest of the month.

I had the vet out the other day to do my horse's jabs. I'm also thinking of clipping him and he can be a bit wary so might need a bit of Domosedan.

Baring in mind my horse is new to this practice, they don't know his medical history, and I'd never met this particular vet before, the convo went like this:

- By the way, I'm thinking of clipping him - if I wanted to get hold of some Domosedan online would you be able to write me a prescription?
Vet: Oh, I don't actually have any prescription forms on me but if you give the surgery a call we'll be able to get some sent out to you

That was literally it.

Ok, in which case I wasn't clear what the question was you were asking LC.

Obviously people can actually do whatever they want/feel best.
