I am getting rather :-/ about our young bitches stomach. She is really sensative and after trying so many different feeds, we found what suited her and she was thriving on it (was a meat but had lots of fresh veg etc mixed in). When we went to buy some the other week - they have gone and flippin well changed it! No more mixed in veg etc but i bought some thinking that it cant have changed much... well, it has, if she has the same quantity as before, she goes sloppy. So i have halved the meat and now am mixing it with 1/2 dry food (which we tried a dried diet before and she pooped for england!). All seemed well but 5 days into it, we have been out for the afternoon and returned to quite a mess.
She often has parma bones and loves them, following having them, she never seems to have loose stools.
Is there any supplements etc anyone can suggest for one with such a sensative stomach?
When we last spoke to the vet about it, he suggested using a different wormer as her history before us getting her is pretty sketchy (she was apparently being fed chips etc at 8 weeks old!).

Any suggestions on either what food to try and intergrate next or of anything else you can suggest?

A raw diet it something i would love to do, but it's sadly not very practical at the moment for us as we have 2 young children around, and we dont seem to have butchers etc around anymore, so i am not totally sure where i would get it all from, and hubby is worried about having such food about with our young children :(
If you have any suggestions of how i could easily do it in my circumstances please do share :) (my vet also isnt into raw diets so cant ask him re advice).

Over protecting children from normal everyday germs is a certain way to depress the child`s immune system, this is one of the main reasons for all these asthmatic kids around today. As farm kids we got all sorts of animal waste all over us,got scratched on trees, stung by nettles and bugs..all of which made us extremely healthy.
A few bugs around are beneficial!

Agree, try raw or at least, raw a couple of times a week, it's not as scary as you might think and I was up to my ears in doo poo, dog hair, raw meat (we used to cut and mince our own tripe, BLEUGH!) and general germiness as a child, it's good for the immune system :p

If raw is really a no-go then try grain-free - Fish4Dogs, Arden Grange sensitive (fish and potato), Wainwrights fish and potato (though contains barley), Orijen, the grain-free Acana range, Naturediet... erm.. that's it, off the top of my head, there's probably many more.

What are you feeding her at the moment? I'm a little obsessed with this wheat allergy thing but I'm convinced it's at the heart of most dietary problems.

Ditch the parma ham bones for raw bones from the butchers (they're free and won't splinter). :)

By meat and dry food do you mean tinned dog food and that dry biscuit stuff?? If so, then I'm not surprised she is having trouble. In your case you need to pick a good quality kibble as suggested before and stick with the amount it tells you to feed. This is usually a lot less than you think. We feed good kibble topped up with raw meat. Raw is great but doesn't suit everyone and it's not always possible. See what your local stockist has or look online. Even pets at home sells raw dog meat. Any butcher will do dog mince for you if you ask.

Bones will always firm up dog poo. Ours get them a couple of times a week (free from butcher you really don't need to buy them just don't get big leg bones they are too hard) and they get 'bone poo' afterwards. You shouldn't feed kibble at the same time.

If I fed mine on tinned dog meat and that mixer stuff I can guarantee they would all have the squirts. It's truly terrible.

No supplement will help with a rubbish diet. As for wormer, providing you use a proper one, ie one from an online pharmacy/vet such as Drontal and not one from a pet shop shelf I very much doubt worms will be the problem.

Get a good kibble, change gradually and give it a good few days. Be very carefull how much you feed - many people feed way too much and that in itself causes the squirts!! If you still have issues then natural yogurt is as good as anything else.

We use raw beef ox cheek and tripe mixed, raw chook carcases..whole,and hardly any kibble at all. Looseness is unheard of in all of mine, unless they are ill of course. There are so many companies that will deliver to your door..Landywoods for instance, and your kids immune systems will benefit too! A no brainer.:D

What make of kibble do you use?
