Seriously fed up with the rain!!!!

I looked at the Equidry but even a light fleece lining would be too thick I think.
In winter I wear a T shirt with a sweatshirt over it plus an inadequate, waterproof -wise, mesh lined jacket and an air jacket.
If the coat was fleece lined except in the coldest of weathers, when I wouldn’t ride, I would melt.
A mesh lined Equidry would perhaps be ideal and easy for layering.
I am intrigued by the DoPo skirt though.
I think the new one only has a thin fleece lining ? I might give that a bash

The lite is warm but not super warm. I rode in it today in wind and rain but about 14 degrees but tee shirt underneath. Slow riding as ground very wet. Good temperature but I had to take off clearing up afterwards, as too hot.

But 14 is still warm for winter.

I’m not sure it’s a schooling / fast work coat, but slower / longer hacking / chores think be good.

I’ve two good waterproof unlined coats (Kerrits and Equetech) but I do find more than an hour of rain and unlined feel damp.

Will see. Not had any cold riding weather yet.

Thank you. I think that would be too warm when I add an air jacket on top.

I had tee shirt, decathlon rubber fleece lined breeches, body protector, equi dry lite over top. Think my air jacket / body protector add similar amounts of heat.
(I can get both under equi dry but don’t).

Temperatures are set to plummet from the middle of the month.

I said to my boss yesterday it'll be a real shock to everyone's system after the lovely long summer and very mild autumn we've had!

I had every intention of hacking out in the rain this morning but my poor lad was still very unsettled by last night's fireworks. Then they started shooting grouse up on the moors and he got very upset so I gave up.

I would rather it be cold than this warm wet weather its horrible, mucking out today in a t shirt was sweating even with a thin fleece on even though it was chucking it down.

Got absolutely soaked this morning when we hacked out; wet right through to bra & knickers.

Within 10 mins of home the sun started coming out, blimmin' typical that.

Totally Eff'd off with the poxy weather.
Same. We set off and it started raining, we decided what the hell and carried on. My coat worked very well (not tested it out before) but somehow it funnelled rain down my left boot. I could feel it swilling around and I could empty the water out of it at the end of the ride. Boots are soaked through and are now sitting on the end of broom handles in the lounge drying out.
After we got back and had put the horses away it brightened up, I joked “ooh, it looks nice now, shall we go for a hack?”

I, too, am feeling victimised by the weather.
Bright, sunny skies, perfect for a quick 30min ride on the 4yo.
Tacked up, hopped on, starts spitting.
Get to the barn and it suddenly comes down in torrents, blowing sideways.
Keep going, get back to the starting point and as my feet touch the ground the rain stops and the sun comes back out and stayed out the rest of the day.
Rude ?

Sounds like a series of successful achievements to me. Well done you and the 4yr old!

Oh yes, I'm looking at it as good training for all weathers, I'm just slightly miffed it didn't hang around for at least a bit longer than my ride ?

You should all be grateful that you don't live on an old iron barge on a leaping tidal river. I've just spent a dreary hour, bent double in the engine room, clutching a guttering lamp. I can't find the hand bilge. Meanwhile, lady who looks after Old Horse having a dither down the phone about which rug/no rug to put on him today. Sorted that to our mutual satisfaction.
King Kevin Kat suddenly decided that he would be useful as Chief Something in above-mentioned engine room. Fat Fluffy Kat in dark, wet, oily engine room not a good thing. Swore loudly at Kat. Retreat of FFK.

I think its my fault - every time I turn up at the horses the heavens open. it doesn't seem to matter what time of day I go it starts within a few minutes of me getting out of the car (and usually stops once my knickers are wet). I've got a row of sodden/dripping coats hanging in the feed room drying.

We do need some rain, but the downpours we have had have not soaked into the ground, instead its just washing away the surface.

Same here every time I get up to the very exposed field it starts raining every single time. I normally like winter but since having to move them I hate it! Where they used to be it was a lovely large hard standing area with 2 stables with concrete out the front and a tack room and hay shed. And 6 large fields that didn't get that muddy but had too move them due to grass sickness in the fields. now I've just got a field, which is already muddy enough.

We’re now all wearing full waterproofs every time we go out. Better to wear them and not need them than to get wet day after day!

Good! Perhaps I can finally get some weight off chubster over here (weeps quietly)

Sorry to say, the forecast has changed again to 9° day/6° night. Still not cold enough to stop the grass growing I don't think. ?

I'd planned to put winter tyres on my car this month but think I'll have to hold off until December now.

Is it though? To wear them and not need them would mean I'd end up like a boil in the bag rice....in fact, I probably end up like that anyway even when I do need them, rather defeating the purpose. Was just thinking today how I'm utterly fed up of being soaked through all the time, either through rain or my own post muckout 'glow'

I'll take the rain - I just need the time! Small child, part time job, trying to make a small farm pay...

I treated myself to a Baleno full length waterproof coat last year and it's a total game changer. I actually look forward to riding in the rain now, no exaggeration.

We're human weather vanes!

My horses (2 of mine and one of OH's) are confined to a large yard so riding isn't particularly optional for me; I have to get them out as much as I can even though their lovely yard (indoor & outdoor 'Horse Hall') is the best I can make. So, yeah, waterproofs and a sturdy determination are needed. And I am trying to blimmin ride on the side of a Welsh mountain. Some days I love it actually, other days it is just a job to be done but I think you just have to do what you can, when you can regardless of the weather (unless icy or otherwise dangerous). I wish I could turn out for a few hours but for the last week our grazing has been literally under water...It will change, Spring will come again and this is just a temporary, if regular trial that horse owners face :)
