Settle a argument for me please

Look back at the thread there is a link to it, some stable rug u can put on wet horses

FW - that made me giggle, can't reply as on phone, for some reason it won't let me .

I reckon she will have learnt her lesson tho. Never ask a question in NL if you want to live to ask another one another day:rolleyes:

Could be worse tho ludo, if you'd posted a vid of the horse you'd now know it had kissing spines, was lame, needed micronised linseed urgently and that you had the bridle on upside down and were sitting backwards :p Oh and if you had no whip you'd nearly died. :D

Ffion, please go back and read the post I put in response to you, my whip really did save my life, you joking about it is rather offensive and narrow minded, I appreciate my life obviously has no bearing on yours but still, low blow.

There just seems to be an obsession with hosing down rather than walking off which I think is a healthier way of cooling down a sweaty horse, then brush them off, simples ;) it doesn't take that much longer to walk them off!

This :)

I wouldn't shower the horse to be honest. After cooling down normally and untacking I'd leave him to dry off in his new superdooper rug you have just bought, do all your other yard jobs and before you go home take the rug off and and brush him off :o

Lastchancer - done that many a time offshore, when laundry not showed up after a shift , had to shower and stick on my clothes wet - then go outside to work - actually within about 5 mins of sticking them on you don't even notice it, in fact that's reminded me so if its nae bad for me to do it your right must not be bad on horse ahhh there's my proof I was looking for, cheers for reminding me.

But you're not covered in a fur coat, so you can't really say if its ok for me then its ok for the horse.

Wow, been a while since I was in the NL...nothing much has changed ;)

Ludo, just FYI I have a Coolex TO rug, which is like a thermatex but has a TO shell over the top of it so I can wash off and chuck straight out if I want to. So look at those too - Mark Todd make them :)

Wow 11 pages Ludoctro! Amazing. Especially when you admitted you were wrong about page 2 or 3 :)

There is only one solution. Ludo you must be hosed off naked on the yard (cold water obv) flogged with a schooling whip and burnt at the stake. Then and only then can we begin to forgive you for this horrific sin you have unknowingly committed and stopped doing anyway. As I am kind, I will take the horse :p

What's the difference to leaving wet outdoor rugs on them to dry..?? Do any of you do that.? All the yards I been on do that.

No just one stable rug not changing it.

I will looking into that bucas stable rug I think because, waiting for him to dry takes too long, I stuck a fleece on tonight but after 1 hour he was still damp underneath it.

Huge difference. The horses are usually dry underneath their turnout rugs and their body heat acts to dry out the outer layers of the rug. I would never put a normal stable rug on a wet horse. You need a thermatex or fleece. If you really need to do it, then you should put a thermatex or fleece underneath the stable rug.

When i had my TB after a warm shower i would pop her thermatex on then put her TO on over it and chuck her out or if she was in do the same but put her stable rug over it - she's be dry in an hour or so :)

Don't worry FW, horse been removed my RSPCA and I've been sent to jail for animal cruelty so problem solved lol

Thank will also look into the mark Todd ones.

Not all the outdoor rugs are fully water proof, in a Scottish winter downpour , my PE rug I had leaked when it had rained all day, yard would leave it on horse to dry out - and no I could not swap it because shock horror I don't visit my horse every day - shoot me..!!! Maybe I could quit my job though so I'm a good owner and care for it 24/7 myself :-)

Murphysgirl - I've seen some of the yards BHS approve - errrrr so thanks but no thinks..! Who ever carries out these inspections really should of gone to speak savers....

OMG - 12 pages as a response for such a simple question! Why on earth do some people on here have to act like they know it all and slam into people when they ask a simple question. Surely that is the whole point of this forum - to ask advice?

OP - your horse has not died so whatever you were doing wasn't that bad was it! If you were going to be a perfect horse owner then a beautiful Thermatex (IMO the only decent wicking rug on the market) after shower would be ideal. By the time you have made up an evening feed, wiped over tack or even had a 10 min chat to buddies, horse would be dry and you can change rugs. Yes, you did lose the argument with your mates but whatever ;-)

Oh and ignore those who cannot take the time to be pleasant!!

A mushing it's 50% phone 50% me being a thicko - always easier to blame the phone lol.

Mcnaughty - thanks glad your not flogging me lol

Yes horse luckily still alive and kicking and 1 very chufties pal.

I'm bowing out now anyway - as for non helpful posters I just ignore user, then I never have to read there guff again - it's great ha ha

Just read this and whoa, what a thread. to be honest, its not ideal to just put a stable rug on a wet horse and no i wouldnt do it but, as someone just said, your horse isnt dead so it hasnt done any harm so far. Also, there's really no need to spend £100 on a bucas rug or a thermatex. Yes they are probably better quality but my boy just has a £20 loveson cooler/sweat rug and hes still alive!

Well I actually put his mesh back on track rug on first then stable rug over top as he wears a back on track rug for 12 hours over night, I think this must help as if I stick my hand down for a feel before I go he feels dry and toasty warm. But still as not to be accused of being a imbaseal who should go back to the PC or such like I gonna buy him that bucas rug, I like the idea of it and I'm already a fan of there stuff. I'd not leave a thermatex rug in him overnight, as I find the stretch back over shoulders and rub and anyway I want the back on track rug on him as it helps him stay relaxed in his back.
