Shannon Matthews step father has been arrested and will appear in court this morning charged with possessing indecent images of children.
Lets hope and pray that he didnt get to Shannon..
 
I hope so too, I said at the beginning that the way he was reportedly acting (the breaking down in tears and not being able to go in her bedroom) was weird, like totally ott! I Hope that Shannons mum might learn to get a bit of grip and stop being so niave, unfortunately the woman comes across as one with a very low level of intelligence (and before anyone says it I don't mean it in class way) she is NOT the sharpest knife in the box, and that has nothing to do with wealth!
I wonder what will happen to the other children now

The papers say today that the images have nothing to do with any of the children in the Matthews household, not that that makes it ok, if ss have a brain between them then the other children will be removed asap, this is also a situation that ss and the police will have to sort out with child protection orders and suchlike.
I also said from the start that the whole thing was strange, on here and to others. I wondered why a lad his age would lumber himself with an older woman with 7 kids? Having worked with sex offenders I drew the conclusion that he was one and that he was infiltrating the family if you like, sounds sick I know, but is common practice and I also hoped and prayed on many occassions that I was wrong!
 
She is still in there care and hopefully the police and ss will either remove the others or put him on bail conditions to live right away from the family
 
I thought he was odd when they aired the documentary a couple of weeks ago, the local people looked more upset then her parents. Also when they first appealed on TV the mum kept making a big deal out of even her step dad was out looking for her too, so he bloody should!!
 
I have to say that I find the whole idea of anyone abusing kids, particularly sexually physically sickening

Abuse in my opinion includes looking at indecent pictures of children as well as partaking in the act or filming/taking photographs.
This news has sickened me to the core and if I was that mother I would be feeling very traumatised now and sick with worry that he may have had the wrong kind of feelings towards my children. I would also hate that someone who I had placed so much trust with to be around my children actually may have had ulterior motives for his willingness to take on board an older woman with several children.
Sick, very sick, sorry I just really want to throw up right now

I always thought there was something strange going on when the little girl wasn't returned to her mother straight away. According the mirror.co.uk she is now back with her mother.
 
She's not back with her mother permanently, I think they were just allowed some contact yesterday. She is still with her foster family.

Cases like this are really emotive and we shouldnt judge the man before he's found guilty in a court of law which will actually have the facts...but unfortunately it does explain why such a young man would be interested in hooking up with a woman so considerably older than himself and with so many children.
 
Thats a rather sweeping statement!! I am 37 and my partner is 22 (not that you would know it he is such an old fart!!) but I have an 8 year old daughter. That doesnt automatically make him a paedo!!!

Granted, when I saw documentary, yes a bit of an oddball and lack of general intelligence....between both mother who seemed very laid back about the whole thing and the oddball partner.
 
Shannon and her mother were meant to see each other for a visit yesterday, but after the stepfather being arrested that was shelved.
She is still with her foster family-hopefully all the children will be taken into care soon.
 
My theory has been for some time that she was running into domestic and/or sexual abuse in the home, had run away and was being sheltered by friends/family.
I may be wrong, but I wonder if this was the case? There is something distinctly fishy about the whole thing.

I have to say though that you have one child, she has 7, by 5 different fathers and again sorry if this causes offence to anyone, but when you have worked in things like this for as many years as I have on and off you get a feel for things and this guy and the mother just gave me that feeling.
 
i think "stepfather" is just a short way of saying "mother's long-term live-in boyfriend and father of Shannon's half-sister", since that doesn't exactly roll off the tongue. Legally of course he isn't her stepfather because he and her mother are not married, but it gets the message across that he is generally in loco parentis. Going by the age and parentage of the other children, he seems to have been Karen Matthews' longest-lasting boyfriend.

I didn't say that any couple with a young child are automatically paedophiles.....

In fact, I never actually said that Mr stepfather was or is a paedophile. As I said, it could be domestic abuse that is going on, although we will have to wait and see.
As it happens, Mr stepfather will likely face charges relating to viewing paedos on the internet, so he has commited some crimes related to paedos.

Not sure I understand the second part of your mail but 'that you have one child' doesn't relate to me as I don't have children.

Like I say, it a theory and it may be right or it may be wrong.

Hence i think betty boop was aiming the comment about having one kid at Winkfiediwantspring.

I feel sorry for Shannon but let's get this straight the whole lot are thick, sponging, workshy gumbies and if it wasn't for the Welfare State (i.e. we the hard working tax payers) very few if these people would exist.
As an inhabitant of West Yorkshire I am furious and ashamed.

she seems a healthy "young" woman...she should get off her lazy arse and help provide for those kids of hers....
 
Sorry she was refering to me and I was answering her not you Mickey, I cant get the hang of how to quote and stuff on here.
I have not implied either that he is a paedo, I have just said that I thought he was some kind of sex offender from day one, judged on the basis that I have worked with people like that and I could see all the signs there.

Ok, I think I have done it right this time.
To reply to you on this one, it makes no difference whether or not her parents or parent work or get benefit, whether they are gumbies or whatever you like to call them. Abuse can happen to anyone in any walk of life, the 3 things children ask for are love, warnth and food, that is it, the basics. Most children who have parents that dont work get love in abundance as there parents are with them all the time, yet you have those with all the money in the world, big house, horses, private schooling and worst of all a nanny, no parents putting them to bed and going to the school plays, all they want is there mum or dad there.

So, class does not enter into this, nor does money, nor does education. Although it has been proven that children from low income families and children from uneducated families tend to fail in life more than those from the more affluent familes, so why then instead of slagging them all off are we not there trying to break the cycle and bring these children into education?

i raised them in a council home.

i ALWAYS had a job, most of the time two!!!!
i ALWAYS made sure they went to school
i ALWAYS made sure they were fed, clothed, were polite, knew ground rules, made sure they "worked" for extras..ie money for youth club, sweets, lifts to friends, etc etc..
i paid rent,
i paid my bills on time,
i ran a car

i suppose the difference is that i didn't think the State owed me a living...
if i couldn't afford it, i didnt buy it
and i NEVER played the "single-mother" card


sometimes you can't help people who wont help themselves...

No you cant, also you will note that on no point on here have I said that her being a single mum on benefits makes her of a lower class then anyone else, it does not come down to class. Personally I alwaysed thought she looked a bit spaced out and wondered if she had issues so to speak.

What on earth does a 27 yr old woman see in a 17 yr old lad? that's almost child abuse in itself!
