only the other day she was adevrtising the fact she sold and bought native ponies in her signature... it was pointed out to her...
JM to say i havent a clue about the siggie would indicate you are trying to make out the signature never existed. Now, that'd be a bit of a porkie pie wouldnt it?

still doesnt detract from the fact you cannot read whats there in black and white......
still doesnt detract from the fact a supposed 'professional' can't accept an apology and has to resort to personal insults to try and make themselves feel good. We all have faults, I accept mine and try and resolve them thankyou.

"supposed" professional??
what are you on about now, katy??
Do you what my "supposed profession" ACTUALLY is?..
Internet libel is very real, and tends to get forums closed down.
'charlie' do you not have something to do?
I am not in any way involved in all this, and do not know JM07 from Adam (or Churchill for that matter) but if you don't pack it in I shall click that nice little notify moderator button because you are not making this a nice place to be.
Okay... um, a very interesting thread... it doesn't seem to have much to do with Shannon Matthews anymore!
The main thing that has upset me about this case is the way that the poor little girl wasn't adopted by the media like little Madeline was. Is it because she is older? Not pretty enough? She went missing in this country? Or she is from a council estate? Personally I suspect that it is because she is not pretty enough and not the daughter of doctors.
Clearly there is something very odd about the family, I don't think that requires police, social services or mental health specialists to tell us! Obviously child abuse does happen in all walks of life be it the school caretaker, the child's respectable businessman father, their brother (anyone see The Shipping News last night?), their mother, foster carer or benefits claiming 'stepfather'. The incidents of known, and I repeat known, cases would seem to be amongst a certain type of person (my mother has been a social worker for twenty odd years - more fool her!) however it is the clever ones who get away with it and are not caught. Which is precisely why CRB checks are nothing but a money making scheme (my mum has four!). CRB checks raise money for the Labour government but all they actually do is prove that anyone with a conviction is a careless / thick sex offender - the clever ones are the ones with the clean records often enough!
With regards to stereotyping single parents I haven't actually heard anyone put their hands together for single dads yet! Without giving too many specifics my mother managed to get pregnant without my dad wanting a child in order to try and 'secure' him... she was 18. Sure enough she wasn't fit to look after a small hamster let alone a child and after two years she disappeared off with his 'best mate' and left my dad, who was trying to do a degree, holding the baby. So yes, we relied on income support. And if I'm quite honest I don't know where we would be now had my dad not met my mum... but I can assure you living in a council flat on the dole was never a long term ambition but we needed that help at that time. We had been out there due to circumstances beyond our control.
So there are many people out there who genuinely need help to get back on their feet... fine. As for those who see the dole as a profession (Tom recently saw a customer who had gained the same A-level results as I got, 2 Bs and 2 Cs... when Tom asked what he planned to do he said 'get benefits like me dad' - this is an ex-mining area)... well, I spit on those people (metaphorically). Oh yes, I'm a trainee teacher, I'm sorry I'm supposed to be leftwing... well bollocks! Tom worked so hard last quarter to get a good bonus so we can afford a deposit on a house. He got paid £3000 last month including his bonus which is a great wage for a twenty year old, sure... but he got £1000 taken straight off him just because he works in finance. The money that goes on scroungers could go to people who need it... single parents who genuinely want to get back on their feet... genuine asylum seekers... more teachers so we have smaller class sizes... the NHS... transport system...
As for the comment about asylum seekers that someone made... I think people in this country are starting to panic. I am sure noone would genuinely wish to refuse help to anyone who needed it! But this island, this planet for that matter, is so small and getting smaller. The world population has tripled in the last 80 years. It's scary. I doubt whether I will have kds! Food prices are going up, roads are gridlocked, class sizes are bursting, hospitable beds are unavailable, countryside is being built on, houseing quality is deteriorating and although employers keep saying we need these people there are so many English people sat doing nothing.
This is very complex and there are no simple answers. Before I get shouted down by anybody I have no wish to ever deny anybody reasonable and fair standards of living but those who have worked hard should not be punished. I have to have my own interests at heart and as the population puts more strain on this country financially I think people will increasingly have to have their won interests at heart.
I have to try and get onto the housing market next year as a first time buyer. I may not afford to buy a horse for ten or twenty years despite Tom being a bank manager and my being a trainee teacher. We will be two professionals with very little money... a real incentive to work hard!!
I take your point about the panic that leads to flippant comments about asylum seekers. Sadly others didn't put forward such a reasonable position, but just sounded bigoted
Thank God they have seen sense. I hope all the kiddies are not split up and that they get a nice foster family and at least get to stay together or keep in contact.
good old Social Services.....missed that one...again!

Don't be such a cynic for goodness sake, no one claims that social services are great, no one has said that the world is perfect. At least now the mother does not have any of the children with her and no more harm can come to them. The news said earlier that she has now been remanded in custody. Hopefully the kiddies will stay together or at least be able to keep in contact with each other and they can start to have a decent life.

From newspaper reports and quotes from the police "neglect in relation to the case"
the uncle was seen out shopping on several occasions, meaning Shannon was left ALONE by him, and the mother knew that. Maybe, just maybe, this is where the neglect comes into it? Maybe SS weren't at fault at all....
