Put a hat on - baseball cap or whatever suits. But it stops your hair from picking all the lovely yard smells ......

(unless you are a person who washes hair daily that is).
 
Boiler suit, wellies and hat to avoid smells and hay.
Wear gloves - marigolds will do - to keep nails clean.
Do everything you can the night before - feeds, rugs ready etc.

Get a hardy type and a big field

my dad lives in Norway so he bought me a norwegian all in 1 snow suit i used this in winter on top of my work clothes to keep them dry/clean/not horsey smelly

making up all nets and feeds in advance has got to be a must!

my mare is really clean around her banks and just goes in the middle, so i bank up her fresh straw at the weekend so i can just pull it down for fresh during the week!
 
Ditto the boiler suit, I have a waterproof one and a cotton one, they are very liberating!

Rubber matting, doing loads of hay nets on a saturday or sunday ready for the week, or just putting the hay on the ground. Biggest time saver is to have your neds living out 24/7
 
1. Buy loads of hay nets and fill up at weekends/days off.

2. Buy loads of buckets and make a few feeds up in advance (we do 4 at a time) so only water has to be added when feeding.

3. Fill any spare buckets with water if it is going to freeze, I have enough water buckets to last me 3-4 days when it is frozen.

4. Put lightweight sheets on any ponies/horses that need riding to save having to scrape the mud of them every time you want to ride.

5. Deep Litter Beds
 
Toni and Guy dry shampoo - spray on your hair and brush through, smells nice and covers up the whiff of mucking out! Plus nice smelling face cleansing wipes, handwash and body spray. I like latex gloves although they are quite easy to tear so marigolds might be better.

If going to the yard early I always pack my bag of work clothes the night before so I am not rushing round trying to figure out what to wear the next morning, and have jods etc laid out for the morning. It's so much nicer not to have to think about what you need too early in the morning!
 
i make up weeks hay nets

feeds are simple you can have 2 feed buckets make days up (morning /night feed) or as i do give him his brekky and after make up his night feed that way he only has supplements to add at night and then make his breakfast for next morning,

if u feed carrots cut up whole bag and store them in chunks just case grabbing a hand full,

some leave turnout rugs on all night so you just turn up and throw out

mucking out if your horse is clean and you have your own barrow hand pick/fork poo and leave wheel barrow in tack room till full and empty it then

Pay someone at yard to muck out for you lol

for OH doing all jobs i couldn't help but double check everything after him lol
 
PS having your clothes ready in a bag means you don't forget things, or put in odd shoes while rushing (have done this one), or pick the wrong trousers out of the wardrobe to find they are from 2 years ago and are a size too small (have done this one too, had to add in a dash to Asda to find something I could fit into!).
 
definitely making sure everything is prepared the night before. Boiler suits are definitely worth while as our wellies and marigolds.

we have the antibacterial hand gel at work and that works a treat at getting bad smells off of hands!

Also if you muck out in the morning, skip out in the evening - helps big time!
